And that is a wrap on Saltstone.

What started as a dark, dated apartment is now a light filled coastal escape, thoughtfully renovated to feel calm, open and easy to live in.

Throughout the renovation we focused on improving flow, bringing in more light and creating spaces that feel relaxed the moment you walk through the door. Walls were opened up, finishes simplified and every area was considered for both comfort and durability as a holiday rental.

From the open living zone and bright hallway, to the reworked bathroom and laundry with ocean inspired feature tiles, this project has been all about turning an older apartment into a fresh, welcoming beachside stay.

We have loved sharing the transformation along the way and cannot wait for guests to experience it in person.

This space used to be a collection of small, closed off areas, including a cupboard style laundry tucked away behind doors.

As part of the Saltstone renovation, we opened everything up and reimagined it as one large, light filled bathroom and laundry zone.

Now there is a generous walk in shower, a functional laundry area and room to move comfortably, all within the same footprint.

The hero of the space is those blue green feature tiles. Their colour and variation were chosen to reflect the ocean just across the road, bringing that coastal feeling indoors and giving the room real depth and personality.

Paired with soft "sand" look tiles, simple white cabinetry and clean lines, the result is calm, practical and unmistakably beach inspired.

A holiday rental bathroom and laundry that feels like part of the destination, not just a utility space.

This area outside the bathroom and toilet used to feel tight, dark and closed in. A full height wall boxed everything off and blocked natural light from flowing through the hallway.

As part of the Saltstone renovation, we reduced that wall back to open up the space between the bathroom, toilet and hallway. It immediately made the area feel wider, brighter and much more connected to the rest of the apartment.

Same footprint. Completely different feel.

It is a great example of how thoughtful layout tweaks, not just finishes, can completely change how a home lives and moves, especially in older apartments where light and flow are often limited.

Swipe for the hallway transformation 👉

Hallways are often forgotten spaces, but at Saltstone we knew this long corridor set the tone for the whole apartment.

Before, it felt dark, narrow and a little heavy. Now it’s light, open and calm, with soft tones, new flooring and layered lighting that draws you through the space instead of closing it in.

We treated the hallway as part of the experience, not just a walkway. The artwork adds warmth and personality, breaking up the length of the corridor and giving your eye little moments to pause along the way.

Proof that even the “in between” spaces can completely change how a home feels.

This is the lounge looking through to the dining and kitchen before and after the Saltstone renovation.

What was once tired carpet, heavy tones and a closed-in feel is now light, open and coastal calm. New flooring, fresh paint and a simplified palette have completely changed how this space feels the moment you walk in.

We wanted the main living zone to feel easy, airy and connected to the beach just across the road, somewhere you can drop your bags, kick off your shoes and instantly relax.

The bones were always there. It just needed a little vision and a lot of love.

One room finished. See a little before and after below.

This bedroom was one of the first spaces we completed and it really set the tone for what Saltstone is becoming. Calm, coastal and considered.
