Miss M had these unusual storage cupboards throughout the building. At first we thought they might have been old windows that had been filled in - but we've never been sure.

Now, we use them as libraries for our guests. Borrow a book while you stay with us, or donate one for other guests to enjoy.

After all, nothing really beats a pre-loved book (or building).

Locker room was probably the most amazing discovery we had when peeling back the layers of restoration.

When we first bought Miss M - we didnt know there was any internal stone. All of it had been built over after years of renovations. Now, we get to enjoy a double height kitchen and the walls can finally breathe again.

In the heat of a Brisbane summer, its always cool and shady.

The best part about working with heritage?

No two rooms are the same. Locker room has the second hand book library, Principal's office the restored stone wall, Assembly hall the best light, Drawing room looks up and down James St and Refectory has the oldest, most delicate ceiling art.

So the real question is, which one are you going to pick?

Chances are you love learning about a city’s history if you follow Miss Midgley’s.

And if we’re right about that, we think you’ll love the Ekka. Queensland’s annual agricultural show, its almost as old as Miss M now in its 149th year.

It is a carnival that really feels like it can only happen in Queensland - a totally unique fusion of outback country, subtropical city living and rodeo festivities. If we do say so ourself, its a cultural icon and relic.

Only 8 min drive or bike, or if you’re feeling up to it, less than a half hour walk from Miss M.
