I had a visit last night from Sally the Snake.. thankfully she was slithering on the fence peacefully.

After a quiet winter ❄️ and the first warm weather ☀️, snakes can start to get a little more active in the lead up to summer 🐍.

Although snake bites are rare, it's important to treat them as an emergency, regardless of whether you think the snake was venomous or not.

Ensure you and those around you are not in danger, call Triple Zero (000) immediately, ask for an ambulance and follow the steps below 👇🚑

: From Friday 20 August at 4.00pm, restrictions will ease across 11 LGA's in Queensland, including the Gold Coast.

Up to 30 people will be able to gather in homes and public spaces, while weddings and funerals can have 100 attendees.

People in the relevant government areas must still carry a mask at all times.

⚠️ 3-Day Lockdown from 4pm Today 🦠

After 6 locally-acquired cases were found in Brisbane, from 4pm today the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim will enter a hard lockdown.

You can only leave home for these reasons👇
1️⃣ To buy essentials such as groceries or medications
2️⃣ Work if you can’t do it from home. No school, except for the children of essential workers
3️⃣ Exercise but only within 10km of your home
4️⃣ Healthcare, including to get a COVID-19 vaccination, or to provide help, care or support

😷 Make sure to wear a mask when you leave home and get tested if you have symptoms

Update 📣

⚠️ COVID Update 28 July - One locally acquired case in Queensland (it’s not in our area) and new quarantine rules for returned travellers from Victoria and South Australia 🦠

The one case was a returned traveller who has tested positive following hotel quarantine, they’ve been infectious in the community since Thursday 22 July.

The man tested negative 3 times before leaving quarantine, then went to stay in the Roma Street City Backpackers. He became unwell, was tested on Monday night and the results came back yesterday.

Contact tracers are now working to track down everyone who was staying in the backpackers and anyone else he may have been in contact with.

🚧 Changes to Border Rules for Vic and SA

With the removal of the lockdowns in Victoria and South Australia, but the high levels of restrictions they are under, these states will remain classified as hotspots.

But if you’re a Queenslander returning home or someone with an exemption who has been allowed in, from this Friday (30 July) at 1am you’ll be able to quarantine at home if you have an appropriate residence.

That will be a big relief to those who are waiting to get back from these states.

With cases still appearing in the community make sure you keep wearing masks, stay home if you’re sick and get tested 😷🏠🔬
