Pad choice, how do you decide? That takes time, practice, skill and listening to your client, discussing with them the sound they’re after, the music they play and their particular style of playing, this takes time to learn. That being said, there are some things that are just wrong, like putting student level pads into a High End instrument. There are many reasons we don’t do this. Partly because these pads arent designed to take the level of use of a pro level player, they don’t sit correctly on these instruments, they don’t feel right for the player and they certainly don’t help with producing the required sound. They are however, cheap. There are high end synthetic pads, which work extremely well in the right situations, and I use them often, just not these ones.
