The striking red rocks along our coastline were the inspiration behind the name Red Rock Hut.

Right on our doorstep, these beautiful rust-coloured rocks are one of our favourite features of the coastline we call home ❤️

A wild kind of beautiful.

Seal Rocks Lookout, on King Island’s south coast.

Sweeping views across the Southern Ocean and some of the island’s most dramatic coastline.

👣While you’re down this way, take the Clifftop–Copperhead Walk along the cliffs and visit the 7,000-year-old Calcified Forest nearby.

Cruising towards summer…

Longer days are here. Take your time, there’s nowhere else to be.

We’re super chuffed to find out Red Rock Hut has been named a finalist in the 2026 Tasmanian Tourism Awards People’s Choice Award — an independent award based on guest reviews over the past year. And now the public gets a say.

We know we’re just small fry in a sea of some pretty impressive tourism operators across Tasmania, but if you’ve stayed with us, followed along from afar, or simply like what we do, we’d absolutely love your vote — you’ll find the link in our bio.

And to everyone who has stayed with us and taken the time to leave a review — thank you. We read every single one, and your kind words genuinely make our day ❤️

Slow living, by design.

Days here move at their own pace — quiet mornings overlooking the ocean, afternoons between the hot tub and sauna, and sunsets worth staying in for.

A few days to slow down, switch off and settle into island life.

Wild neighbours. 🦘

Red Rock Hut sits on 32 acres of King Island’s west coast, and we’re not the only ones who call it home.

Wallabies are a regular sight around the hut — grazing among the coastal grasses and going about their day.

King Island is bigger than you think.

The best way to get around the island is by car, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace.

For car hire, we recommend our friends at King Island Car Rental who’ll meet you at the airport, so you can start exploring straight away.

Prefer not to drive? Private transfers are available too.

FOKI is back in February 2027 🎶

The Festival of King Island returns to Currie Harbour on 12 & 13 February, bringing two days of live music, local food and summer by the sea.

Set against the backdrop of Currie Harbour, FOKI is always a great weekend to experience King Island at its liveliest.

February is one of the island’s busiest times, so if FOKI is on your 2027 plans, we recommend getting your accommodation, flights and festival tickets organised early.
