The Friends of the Burra Railway Station are back at it again this May, bringing a beautiful slice of history to life as part of History Month.

Step inside the historic station and enjoy a relaxed Sunday with a classic Devonshire Tea, the perfect excuse to slow down, catch up with friends, and soak in the charm of one of Burra’s most loved heritage spaces.

Or make a day of it and explore Burra’s heritage sites, take a wander through town, and finish with a cuppa and scones at the station.

Running every Sunday throughout May (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st) from 11:00am – 2:00pm, it’s a lovely way to spend a few hours while supporting the incredible volunteers who help care for this special site.

All funds raised go towards the ongoing maintenance of the Burra Railway Station, helping preserve this piece of local history for future generations.

Grab a friend, enjoy a cuppa, and take a step back in time this May.

There’s no better way to start the year than on a good note, and we love seeing our town pop up on lists like this one!

Burra has been recognised as one of the most breath-taking towns in South Australia by World Atlas, and we think that’s pretty well deserved. From rich history to beautiful landscapes and character-filled streets, it’s lovely to see Burra getting the recognition it’s earned.

The sails are set, the Burra Yacht Club is making its long-awaited return!

Mark your calendar for Saturday 15th November, when the Burra Burra Yacht Race takes over Burra Creek (Thomas Pickett Reserve).

This isn’t just any race. With more than $4,000 in cash and prizes across a range of categories, competitors will be chasing glory in every form, from the fastest finish to the most creative craft.

Whether you’re keen to build, paddle, or simply watch the spectacle unfold, this is the perfect chance to get involved. Gather your mates, start planning your raft, or come down to the creek and cheer on the brave crews battling it out to the finish line.

Did you know that Copper Mine Cottage is Pet Friendly? 😊

For the pups and cats we supply beds, in a range of sizes to suit, food and water bowls, pooper scooper, indoor pet safety gates (should you wish to close off an area) and a beautiful outdoor space that is secure and that can be accessed from the front, back or side of the property.
The only thing we ask is that you keep your pets off of the furniture and beds so as to reduce any impact on other guests.
There are some lovely areas for walking and the town has many tree lined wide footpaths.
The Burra creek is directly across the road which has pedestrian footpaths for you to access both sides via the bridge to Paxton Square.
There is also an off leash dog park in Smelts Road which is 3 mins by car or 20 mins walking distance.
