The hotel is located in the quaint village of Burrawang, among the picturesque rolling green hills of the Southern Highlands of NSW. The hotel is famous for it’s beautiful gardens, spectacular views and tasty food.

A quick update from us at the pub 😊

Firstly, thank you to everyone for your patience, encouragement, and support.

We had hoped to reopen in November, but delays with suppliers and the upcoming Christmas/New Year shutdown mean things are taking a little longer than planned. The building has needed far more restoration than expected, but we’re making great progress and putting a huge amount of care into bringing the pub back to life.

We’re now aiming to reopen early next year closer to Autumn, with an official date to be announced closer to the time. We’ll share updates here, on our website, and through local community channels, so you won’t miss a thing.

You can read the full update on our website, however, here is a few quick answers to common questions:

• Accommodation: We no longer offer accommodation, but we’ll list great local options on our website.
• Bookings: We’re not taking any bookings until we’re officially open.
• Events: We welcome hosting small family events and gatherings but we’re unable to host large weddings.
• Locals’ nights & community events: We look forward to these continuing once we reopen.
• Will it feel like a country pub: Yes, more than ever!

We are thrilled to announce the Burrawang Pub is under new ownership as of the 9th April 2025.

For those who don’t already know us, we are not publicans. We are farmers and we have lived in the Highlands for over 25 years. Beyond breeding and raising beef cattle, we appreciate good food, fine wines and just about every beverage in between. We are also passionate about good design, the preservation of old character buildings and the restoration of degraded landscapes.

We are going to give the pub the bucket of love that it so desperately needs, so we are temporarily closing for a short period – just over the winter months – to carry out essential repairs and maintenance works that cannot be done while operating.

During this temporary closure we know you will miss coming into the pub, but rest assured, we will be doing everything we can to get things completed as soon as possible. On top of the essential repairs and maintenance works, the pub will be fitted out with new state-of-the-art kitchen and bar equipment, loads of new outdoor teak from local Cotswold Furniture, plus a beautiful new decorating scheme with some lovely country antique furniture and fabrics coming from the UK. We’re certain it will be worth the wait!

As for the new menu… the food is being directed by Alex Prichard, a mate of ours and Shoalhaven local, who also happens to be one of Australia’s best two-hat chefs. The new menu can best be described as simple and seasonal comfort food – cooked to perfection – using the best fresh local produce sourced directly from growers as much as possible.

Our offering of wines, beers, cocktails and mocktails will be sourced and curated to match the food with plenty of great wines at affordable prices. And yes David Moffat, there will be Guiness on tap!

And while we are closed now, we will be open to serve the community on two important event days in April before the repair and maintenance works commence:

ANZAC DAY
Friday 25th April 2025
10am until 10pm
With Two Up from 12 noon & Last Post at dusk

Rest assured, we will still be continuing with all the other traditional and much-loved community events held at the pub over the decades; from trivia and locals’ nights, June long weekend fireworks, Christmas events and everything in between. We’ll also be adding some new events throughout the year which we hope will become traditions in time.

We will be posting further updates on the pub Instagram and pages as we get closer to the reopening date, so do make sure you are following along.

We are so looking forward to welcoming you all back to this restored country pub, which we hope will feel like a home away from home for all our local farmers and villagers alike.
