ROAD CONDITIONS UPDATE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
SEPTEMBER 24TH 25TH 26TH
Unfortunately, Council has scheduled the transport of some very large construction equipment during one of our peak tourism periods.For all of us tourism businesses north of the river, the timing is… less than ideal.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The road WILL REMAIN OPEN, but oversized machinery will be travelling between the Daintree Ferry and Noah Creek Bridge, and Council has advised motorists to expect delays, particularly over the Alexandra Range.
Thursday 24 September:
The first load is expected to leave the Daintree Ferry around midday.
Friday 25 & Saturday 26 September:
First load expected to leave the Daintree Ferry around 8.30am
Our best advice is to travel early, before the machinery starts departing from the Daintree Ferry.Or come the long way round via the Bloomfield track and skip the cue! you need a 4wd for this road!
Please also come prepared. Once you’re in the ferry queue, there’s nowhere to pull over for food or drinks, so pack plenty of water and a few snacks for the trip.
Public toilets are available near the ferry. With the additional traffic and machinery movements, waits could be up to an hour at the Daintree Ferry and AlexanderRange.
