Winter Wonderland at Chestnut Brae is pure magic this time of year.

The autumn leaves have fallen, revealing an orchard of beautifully bare, skeleton-like trees, an art form in their own right. It’s a peaceful, striking landscape you won’t forget.

Stay awhile at the farmstay, light the log fire, and settle into the cosy charm of a true winter escape 🔥

The South West really is a wonderland right now and it only keeps getting better!

Harvest is in full swing, and we’re about a tonne ahead of where we were this time last year.

As always, the weather keeps things interesting. The cooler summer helped, but early rain during harvest meant we had to do more handpicking, as we couldn’t get the harvester into the orchard.

The cool room is now full, and the focus has shifted to peeling nuts to free up space. If you’re after chestnuts in the shell, we’ve got plenty available.

We’ve also had some damage from strong winds. An old pine tree in the orchard came down, unfortunately right on top of our yellow harvester. Out of 70 acres, that’s where it landed.

Getting it cleared was a bit of a job.

Big news for us at Chestnut Brae!

Worldpackers has nominated us as finalists for Best Volunteer Experience for Backpackers in their global awards and we’re absolutely stoked.

Since taking over the farm, we’ve welcomed more than 150 volunteers from around the world, and it’s been an incredible journey sharing this place and learning together.

This is a brand new initiative by Worldpackers, and we’re looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds when the final results are announced in a few months.

A huge thanks to everyone who’s been part of the Chestnut Brae story so far!

Exciting news, John is heading to Scotland in June, as one of the keynote speakers at the global agritourism conference.
