Beer + Bubs is childbirth education for dads, held at the pub.
This one-night session is designed for expectant dads who want to walk into birth feeling more confident, more prepared, and a lot clearer about what their role actually is. Because most dads want to be helpful, they just do not always know what helpful looks like when labour gets real.
Held in the relaxed setting of the Northlakes Tavern, this session is practical, informal and down-to-earth. No awkward classroom vibe. No pretending you already know everything. Just honest, useful information about labour, birth and how to support your partner when it matters most.
Beer + Bubs is ideal for first-time dads, dads having another baby who want to feel more prepared this time, and dads who have already attended antenatal classes but still feel unsure about their role in the birth room.
During the session, dads will learn practical ways to support their partner through labour and birth, including:
What to say, and what definitely not to say, during labour
How to stay calm when things feel intense
Simple comfort measures and support techniques
How to understand pain relief options and birth choices
How to communicate with midwives and medical staff
How to advocate for your partner without taking over
What to expect in the birth room, so you are not learning it all on the day
The night is fast-paced, conversational and easy to follow. It is built around the real questions dads often have, including the ones they may not want to ask in a traditional antenatal class.
Your host, Lexi Kemp, is a birth doula, mum of two, and a passionate advocate for the important role dads and partners play during birth. Lexi brings warmth, practical knowledge and lived experience to the session, including her own experience of having a hands-on, active birth partner by her side.
Beer + Bubs has been recommended by childbirth educators, midwives and obstetricians across Australia for more than 20 years. It gives dads practical tools, honest conversation and a better understanding of how they can show up well for their partner and baby.
