We have been thinking about converting "grandpa's house" into a B&B for some time now .... it's finally happened! We called our B&B Clarevale Cottage because it used to belong to the Clarevale Cooperative Winery and they used our house as their office. For those of you who remember Andrew Tolley, he was the winemaker all those years ago before going to Taylors. It was later bought by the Knappstei
n family, then sold to us by Geoff Knappstein18 years ago. My dad later came to live with us and we built a self contained granny flat, separated by a breeze-way where he lived for three years and it was always referred to as "grandpa's house". After finding the original Clarevale sign that was attached to the front of our house we decided that there could only be one name for our B&B "Clarevale Cottage". After spending a few hours at the History Room, I found many old photos of the Clarevale Winery and Lennon street, the train pulling into the station at the top of Lennon Street, now known as the famous Riesling Trail. Thank you for your support already of our new venture and please drop in for a look and a coffee any time.
