Sometimes the right people just need the right opportunity. ❤️Back in April 2026, Stacey and Dane applied for the permanent Motel Manager role at Cobar Central Motor Inn, NSW.

They both brought plenty of transferable skills and life experience to the table; however, the owners, Charlie N Jan saw something else too.

👏Energy. Enthusiasm. A positive attitude. A willingness to learn. And people who genuinely wanted to make a success of their new career.

They were convinced Stacey and Dane were the right people for the role.

So, they invested in them.

Jan and Charlie paid for Stacey and Dane to complete the motelsos.com Motel Management and Operations Course as they prepared for their new roles.

And they did it while packing up their home, making sure their teenage sons were okay, saying goodbye to family and friends, relocating and navigating all the emotions that come with starting a completely new chapter.

That's commitment.

😀Fast forward to September, and we asked Stacey and Dane how they were feeling after their first few months managing a motel.

Their response says it all: “It’s been a great first few months getting into the swing of managing a motel.

No two days are the same, which keeps it exciting. Getting to hear some great travel stories from guests passing through is definitely a highlight.

Having a work/family life balance has to be the biggest reward so far.”

🥳And that is why Fred and I keep talking about motel management standards. Motel management isn't just about knowing how to run a property. It's about having the right people, the right skills, the right attitude and the right support behind them.

It's about owners recognising potential and being prepared to invest in their people.

And it's about giving capable people the opportunity to build a career they can be proud of, while still having a life outside the motel.

🤩Congratulations, Stacey and Dane. You took the leap, put in the work and backed yourselves.

Today we say farewell to Martin & Oana, who have been much more than outstanding Motel Managers.
Throughout their time with us, they have shown dedication, professionalism, reliability & genuine care for our guests, staff & business.
Their hard work positive attitude & commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact.
While we are sad to see them leave, we are incredibly grateful for everything they have contributed & the high standards they have set.
We wish Martin & Oana every success & happiness in their future endeavours & thank them sincerely for being such a valued part of our team.
