LoopinLegends - Anita & Ian The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

We went to school, we worked, we raised 2 gorgeous girls and now have 2 beautiful Grandsons, we lost our parents and now it's time for us... We just want to share and inspire you as to what life can look like on the road.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here… some say it’s too expensive. But if you utilize the whole day. I think it’s totally worth it. The you can BYO for happy hours 4-6pm… it was a win for us. :)

On our way home… currently at Narrabri. What started out to be a full loop has shifted to a smaller QLD/NSW loop. But that’s OK… I’m heading to Bali to finish some Dental work I’ve started and catch up with my beautiful cousin Narelle Cummings. Then home to greet a new little grandbaby…

Life on the road and distance has taught me to really appreciate my closest loved ones. And 3 months apart is more than enough.

We will continue our adventure about August.. which way who knows… but if you are considering this life… I say go ahead and just do it…and the earlier the better to experience what our great country has to offer… cause you just bloody never know…

Love to all,
Neet and Ian xx

🚐 Three months. Thousands of kilometres.
A ridiculous amount spent at bakeries 🥐🤣
And apparently enough travel data to confuse both me AND ChatGPT.

We started this group because we realised something pretty quickly on the road…

Finding genuine social connections while travelling Australia isn’t always easy.

So if you’re travelling solo, as a couple, in a van, caravan, motorhome… or just dreaming about hitting the road one day, come join us over at Social Nomads Australia ❤️

No pressure.
No influencer nonsense.
No “who has the biggest rig” competitions.

Just real travellers sharing camps, laughs, tips, sunsets, happy hours and hopefully making a few genuine friendships along the way 🍻🌅

Come say hello 👇

Our 3 month Shakedown Accommodation Costs -

So… over the last 3 months away I’ve been nerding out a little and using to help track our travels, accommodation costs, kilometres, maps and all the random bits and pieces from life on the road 🚐📊

It’s been equal parts fascinating and frustrating 🤣
Turns out ChatGPT is not exactly a geography expert… and its memory occasionally disappears into the bush without a compass. So there’s been LOTS of correcting dates, locations and prices along the way 😅

But honestly… it’s also made me realise just how much we’ve learnt already.

Things like:

🏕️ Showgrounds are underrated gems.
☀️ We definitely need more solar grunt.
🌾 Inland travel is way cheaper.
🍷 Quiet nights are becoming more appealing than I expected.
🥐 We spend an embarrassing amount of money at bakeries.

And probably the biggest thing…

The social side of travelling isn’t always as easy as people think. A lot of travellers are lovely… but actually finding “your people” on the road can sometimes be harder than expected.

That’s honestly one of the reasons I started the Social Nomads Australia group ❤️

Not for influencers.
Not for perfect van life photos.
Not for competition.

Just a friendly place for travellers who actually WANT to meet people, chat, share locations, organise catch ups, sunset drinks, happy hours, card games, campfires and real friendships on the road.

The group has been growing really nicely and thankfully I’ve only had to remove ONE rude person so far… which I reckon is a pretty solid effort for Facebook 😂

So if you’re travelling Australia, planning to travel, dreaming about travelling… or just enjoy following along with real-life road stories, feel free to come join us on our social group 😊🚐

So we are in our way home to welcome a new grand baby into the world in July and thought we should treat ourselves to an awesome feed, a great outdoor fire and a relax in some hot springs. Cause at this time of year… that’s the perfect thing to do right. Was so impressed with both of these places. There are actually even more artesian pools all around the district… I’ll be going back to both of these places and for longer when we get more time. FREE camping at Nindegully pub and $5.30 per night at Burren Junction. Great facilities at both…. Nindigully Pub Burren Junction Hot Bore Baths Social Nomads Australia bound

LOOPINLEGENDS — WEEKLY WRAP UP 🧭
Dates: Tuesday, 12 May – Thursday, 22 May 2026

This week has definitely been one for the memory books 😄

We started by leaving Roma and heading further inland towards Charleville, with a stop through Mitchell and the hot springs along the way.

From there we made our way into Carnarvon Gorge, and wow… that place really delivered.

Originally we only planned a short stay at Sandstone Park, but quickly extended it after falling in love with the area. We tackled the walk to the Amphitheatre and Moss Garden, clocking up over 21,000 steps in one day, which nearly finished me off 😂 but the scenery was absolutely worth it.

There were also quiet rest days at camp, chilly nights, stargazing sessions, and a lot of appreciation for warm clothes and comfy camp chairs.

Then came Music in the Mulga… and things got a little muddy 😄

What started as a four-night stay became five after heavy rain completely washed out the grounds. We stayed an extra night hoping things would dry out enough to leave… but even then we still managed to get bogged. Along with plenty of other vans and motorhomes.

Thankfully the local council came to the rescue with tractors, graders and plenty of patience.

We eventually escaped the mud, although not before coating absolutely everything we owned in red dirt.

Despite all that, the festival itself was fantastic:
✔ Campfires
✔ Sing-alongs
✔ New bands discovered
✔ Really enjoying Adam and Brooke
✔ Homemade spaghetti bolognese and pies at camp
✔ Lots of laughs with fellow travellers

Then we rolled into Cunnamulla, where life slowed down again.

The tourist park turned out to be a perfect little reset stop after the mud chaos:
✔ Hot springs
✔ Great bakery
✔ Awesome pub meals by the fireplace
✔ Long hot showers
✔ Mountains of washing
✔ Finally getting semi-clean again 😄

And then came one of those unexpected little gems… Burren Junction.

We only planned one night there, but quickly changed that to two after discovering how good the bore baths were. Perfect temperature, lovely atmosphere, lots of campers around without being overcrowded, and really friendly people.

Some nights have just been about sitting outside under the moon and stars with a drink in hand, chatting to fellow travellers while Ian disappears inside to watch Hollywood YouTube 😄

No huge plans.
No strict itinerary.
Just rolling with whatever the road brings.

So this week has included:

✔ Carnarvon Gorge adventures
✔ 21,000-step hiking effort
✔ Stargazing nights
✔ Music in the Mulga festival fun
✔ Boggings… plural 😂
✔ Tractors and graders to the rescue
✔ Red dirt everywhere
✔ Campfires and sing-alongs
✔ Hot springs and bore baths
✔ Country pubs and bakery lunches
✔ New friendships and great conversations
✔ Slowing down and enjoying the road

Honestly… it’s been messy, muddy, exhausting, funny, social, peaceful and pretty wonderful all at once.

Exactly the kind of stories we’ll laugh about later 🧭

LOOPINLEGENDS — ENTRY #056
Date: Leaving Cunnamulla 🧭
Location: Cunnamulla → maybe St George / Nindigully

We’ve just left Cunnamulla Tourist Park and are heading out of town again.

And somehow… it’s only 9:45am 😳 which for us is basically the equivalent of a military operation. Absolute miracle.

No real set plans today. We’re thinking maybe St George or possibly Nindigully, but we’ll just see how we feel as the day goes on and decide from there.

Yesterday we went down to the hot springs in Cunnamulla, which were actually really good. Apparently they spent around $11 million setting the whole area up, and honestly, it’s turned into a really nice stop.

Would’ve happily gone back again today, but chances are we’ll pass through here again somewhere down the track anyway.

Overall, Cunnamulla was a really good little stay:
✔ Nice tourist park
✔ Great bakery
✔ Awesome pub meals
✔ Open fireplace dinners
✔ Hot springs
✔ And finally getting some of that red dirt washed off everything 😄

After the boggings, tractors, graders, mud and chaos… it was a nice little reset stop.

Alright… onto the next town 🧭

Just had a great afternoon at the Cunnamulla Hot Springs… didn’t even know they were here. But if you have to relax after a day spent in the mud the day before we chose the right day to do it. Add it to your Bucketlist.
