Vale William (Bill) Brogan
24 February 1931 – 2 June 2026

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Bill Brogan, a remarkable man whose vision, determination and passion helped shape Coral Bay into the destination we know and love today.

Bill's deep love for Coral Bay and the Ningaloo Reef inspired his dream of creating a place where people from around the world could experience and appreciate this extraordinary part of Australia. Through his hard work, perseverance and commitment, that dream became a reality.

One of Bill's greatest achievements, when nobody else would take the risk, was the successful sinking of the artesian bore in 1981. This allowed the transformation of the sandy dunes of Coral Bay into the oasis between the desert and beautiful marine environment. This milestone laid the foundations for the growth and development of the community that so many enjoy today.

Beyond his contributions to Coral Bay's development, Bill had a lifelong passion for underwater photography, scuba diving and marine conservation. He generously supported marine research initiatives, helped establish the North West Marine Association, and contributed funding towards the construction of the Marine Research Centre in Coral Bay.

Bill lived a full and meaningful life, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. While his achievements were many, Coral Bay always held a special place in his heart.

We sincerely thank Bill for his vision, dedication, unwavering commitment and tireless efforts. His legacy will continue to live on in Coral Bay, in the people whose lives he touched, and in the generations who will enjoy this beautiful place because of his life's work.

Rest peacefully, Bill. Your contribution to Coral Bay will never be forgotten.

Our incredible team is ready to welcome you back to Bayview!

A huge thank you to our hardworking crew, along with the amazing community members, local businesses, and the dedicated DFES and SES teams. We couldn’t have brought Coral Bay back to life without your support—your efforts have truly made it possible to welcome visitors again with open arms.

More great news—Burkett Road is now open, providing access for travellers coming from the north.

And it gets even better… the marine park is open, and our glass bottom boat is back in the water! Join us for an unforgettable snorkelling experience on the stunning Ningaloo Reef.

Please note: the road north of Carnarvon to Minilya, as well as the Lyndon Crossing on Minilya–Coral Bay Road, remains closed. We recommend keeping an eye on the Main Roads website and Travel Map for the latest updates.

Thank you to all our guests for your patience and understanding during this time. We wish you a happy and safe Easter and can’t wait to see you soon!

It’s starting to feel like an Easter miracle here at Bayview.

Our team has been working tirelessly to bring the park back to tip-top shape, ready to welcome our guests for Easter.

Coral Bay is well stocked and smiling — with plenty of fuel, power, water, and food supplies available.

While we’re still unable to confirm a reopening date due to road closures, we’re quietly confident it’s only days away.

The support and effort from our incredible staff, the local community, DFES, and SES crews has been nothing short of amazing — we’re so grateful.

We’ll continue to keep you updated as soon as more information comes to hand. Thank you for your patience and understanding — we can’t wait to welcome you back 💙
