The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to PREPARE TO ISOLATE by 11:30 pm Sat 08 Mar for up to 3 days due to predictions that the Macleay River :
- Crescent Head and Surrounds
- Including Crescent Head Holiday Park
- And Crescent Head Country Club
You should monitor the situation and prepare to be isolated by floodwater. Consider the effects isolation will have on family, work, and educational commitments.
You may be trapped without power, water, and other essential services and it may be too dangerous for NSW SES to rescue you.
What are we expecting?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises the Macleay River at Smithtown is currently at 1.70 metres and rising, below the minor flood level. The Macleay River at Smithtown may reach the minor flood level (3.40 m) from Sunday afternoon.
Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by flooding:
- Low lying roads and causeways may become impassable.
- Crescent Head Road is likely to be cut by rising flood water.
- Residents are advised to be prepared for the conditions with ample water, food and medication for themselves, family and pets.
- Consideration for you and your family's ability and health to self isolate should be made. You may consider to leave and relocate with family or friends early should isolating in place be a concern for you in this situation.
