What a wonderful boost to our community has been the formation of Greenaces. They symbolise everything good that comes through caring for your community and a preparedness to volunteer and help in anyway possible.

The BPMC would like to extend our gratitude for the assistance they have provided recently. Work was done at the base of the footbridge to remove a nasty trip hazard and this will extend to forming up the paths that lead to the bridge. After extreme hot and windy conditions, the garden paths carried a large burden of bark and leave matter. Greenacres assisted this week to rake up and clear the paths for visitors. This has made an immense difference and reinstates some pride in our gardens after very trying weather.

Our committee truly values our association with the Greenacres team and look forward to continued cooperation.

The 2025 Bowman Park A Brush with Art exhibition was another outstanding community success, showcasing the creativity and talent of our region. Twenty-seven artists contributed more than one hundred pieces across a range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and fibre art.

A further twenty community members volunteered their time to assist with door shifts, while a dedicated working group of around ten people managed the setup and pack-down of the display. In total, volunteers contributed over 200 hours of service throughout the 17-day exhibition โ€” an incredible effort that deserves sincere appreciation. Their commitment and teamwork ensured the exhibition once again achieved its goal of celebrating local creativity and promoting Bowman Park as a vibrant cultural hub.

The opening event was well attended, with around fifty guests enjoying delicious nibbles, local wine, and a first look at the stunning displays. Across the exhibition period, an additional 300 visitors came through the doors. This year artists were encouraged to offer their work for sale, resulting in approximately $1,300 worth of art finding new homes. A small commission from these sales supports ongoing improvements at Bowman Park, while the remainder benefits the contributing artists.

Each September, many galleries across the Flinders Ranges come alive with exhibitions of exceptional quality. In 2026, why not gather a group of friends, visit Bowman Park, and continue north for a wonderful day exploring the art and beauty of the region? ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒณ

What a great story - thanks for sharing, Cosi! The original โ€œlizard on a postโ€ near the Crystal Brook turnoff holds special memories for many travellers and locals as a unique landmark. ๐Ÿ’š

If you love spotting creations like this, be sure to visit Bowman Park in Crystal Brook. The park is rich in history, featuring old buildings, a function centre for hire, beautiful walking and bike trails, a native garden, a resident peacock, grassed lawn spaces, and a fantastic nature playground. Itโ€™s a wonderful place to explore - well worth a visit next time you're in the area! ๐ŸฆŽ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿฆš๐Ÿชต

Whoโ€™s seen this big lizard on the side of the road ?

I just got this lovely message about it.

Hey Cosi,

Just thought you'd like to hear my recent 'love to see it' story. I grew up in Whyalla and one of my fond childhood memories was travelling to/from Adelaide and my dad always pointing out the "lizard on a post", what used to be the large wooden goanna carved on a tree trunk near the Crystal Brooke turn off on the side of the main highway. Dad always thought he was hilarious pointing it out, and me and my brother would always be so excited as young kids.

That lizard was removed (not sure the backstory here) a number of years ago (15+).

My dad recently passed away and we have been reminiscing on memories, one of them being dad always pointing out the "lizard on a post".

Fast forward to today when I'm travelling along the highway and randomly spot a new "lizard on a post", similar place as the old one but on the other side of the road.

This put a massive smile on my face as it was such a core fond memory of my dad for us, and it was amazing to see another one. I had to stop and snap a pic.

I'm sure there are many people who remember the old one, and would love to see this new one like I did.

Anyway, thought I would share ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

We would like to acknowledge the generous financial support received from the Pacific Blue Sustainable Community Fund, which has enabled the Bowman Park Management Committee to purchase teardrop banners for our annual Brush with Art event. These banners will be valuable in guiding visitors to our exhibition and will continue to benefit the community for many years to come. ๐ŸŒพ

What a wonderful project to share local history and bring generations together. ๐Ÿ๐ŸฆŽ

Ron and his helpers have been busy preparing items for his memory box. This week, we discovered that Ron used to work alongside Ted Merten at Bowman Park, where he helped care for animals and reptiles. In 1990 he was given a Certificate of Merit from the Bowman Park Trust for his assistance in developing the park. Ron had so many interesting stories to share that we couldnโ€™t capture them all in one visit! And then it got us thinking, imagine if Ron could join us for a Bush Kindy visit one day! ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿฆš

We have already witnessed how our Memory Box project has sparked conversations and brought various memories to life. This is giving our Roseview friends a valuable chance to connect with others and share a part of their history with us. If you have a photo of visiting the reptiles at Bowman Park, please send us a message. Weโ€™d love to hear from you! Thank you๐ŸŒน

We love seeing kids and families enjoying Bowman Park! ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒˆ Congratulations to all involved in making the Colour Run such a fantastic success ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’™ Thank You! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆโ˜€๏ธ

To our incredible community,

A huge thank you to everyone who made today's Colour Run such a success! It was brilliant to see the beautiful natural environment of Bowman Park, aka โ€œCrystal Brookโ€™s backyard,โ€ come alive with children, families, splashes of colour, squirts of water, music, and energy, creating a vibrant and happy atmosphere. ๐Ÿฅณ

With 185 registered participants, the turnout was amazing! Your support and enthusiasm made the event a highlight on the Kidtober calendar. Thank you for spending your Sunday morning with us.

A special thanks to the Crystal Brook Netball Club committee members and helpers for coordinating the powder and water stations, setting up course markers, providing first aid support, and ensuring everything ran so smoothly. ๐Ÿคฉ

We are also grateful to the CFS for bringing two fire units, and to the private farm units that provided a cascade of water for everyone to enjoy. The kids loved getting a chance to use the fire hoses too! ๐Ÿ’ฆ

A big thank you to the Crystal Brook Apex Club for providing marshalling for car parking, at key points along the track, and ensuring all safety measures were in place. Your efforts helped make the day safer and more enjoyable for everyone! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

It was fantastic to have community groups providing food stalls for the crowd. A big thank you to Crystal Brook Primary School Parent Club for the BBQ, Ohh My! van for coffee and ice cream, Crystal Brook Golf Club for their lolly and drink stall, Northern Refrigeration for the icy-cool slushies and CBNC for the coloured accessories ๐ŸŒญโ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿง‹๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ

Thanks to Davina and Mark Zed Photography for capturing magical Colour Run momentsโ€”we canโ€™t wait to share the pictures! ๐Ÿ“ธ

This day wouldnโ€™t have been possible without the effort and teamwork of the CBNC, Bowman Park Management Committee, and the Crystal Brook Community Association. Many hours went into planning behind the scenes, but it was all so worth it! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

Keep an eye out for a feedback survey coming soonโ€”weโ€™d love to hear your thoughts on how we can make the next event even better. Thank you again for making today such an awesome day.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! โค๏ธ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ
