Just watched Kangaroo Island and it’s a truly beautiful film.
It captures the spirit, the landscapes, and the unique atmosphere of this incredible place so well – and it really reminds me why, many years ago, we chose to call it home.

A small disclaimer: the story has some emotional moments toward the end, but overall it’s uplifting and the cinematography is absolutely stunning. A must-see if you love this island and its magic. 🎬🦘

We had the absolute best time at Seaview Lodge! We had stayed at Fides on Kangaroo Beach a couple of years ago so knew the area and once we heard that this newly build house is available over New Years we had to book it. Jane was absolutely great to communicate with and the caretakers Leena & Nick on KI were also lovely. Kangaroo Gully Beach was also easily accessible with our all wheel drive which was a highlight! Highly recommend if you're after a more remote high quality accomodation option on KI.

✈️ By Plane (Fastest Option)

Airlines & Flights
• Daily flights operate from Adelaide Airport (ADL) to Kingscote Airport (KGC) on Kangaroo Island. 
• Flight time is about 30–35 minutes each way. 

Car Hire on Arrival
• You can hire a car at Kingscote Airport from major companies like Hertz or Budget (book ahead). 
• A hire car is essential to explore the island fully. There’s no public transport on KI.

🚗 + ⛴️ By Road + Ferry

1. Drive from Adelaide to Cape Jervis
• It’s about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive (approx. 110 km) south of Adelaide through the Fleurieu Peninsula. 

2. Take the Sealink Ferry
• Ferries run multiple times daily between Cape Jervis (mainland) and Penneshaw (Kangaroo Island). 
• Ferry crossing time: ~45 minutes. 
• You can take your own car on the ferry (book vehicle space ahead) or travel as a walk-on passenger and hire a car on arrival. 

Timetables
• There are several departures each day, with more services in peak seasons — typically from early morning through the evening.

🚘 Driving / Roads on Kangaroo Island
• KI is roughly 155 km long and 55 km wide. 
• Many main roads are sealed; however, a lot of secondary roads are gravel or unsealed — around 20 km or more depending on your destination. 
• Gravel roads are common outside the main towns and must be driven slowly and carefully. 
• Most hire car companies restrict night driving and some unsealed road travel on rental vehicles — so check terms carefully.

⛽ Fuel & Supplies – Important Tips

Main Fuel Locations
• Penneshaw – fuel available. 
• Kingscote – fuel available. 
• Parndana – a main inland option for fuel and supplies. 

👉 Tip: Fill your tanks in Penneshaw, Kingscote or Parndana before heading out into more remote areas — fuel stations can be 45 min+ apart once you leave the main towns.

Seaview Beach House is a stunning coastal escape with a large entertaining deck. The beautiful master bedroom features a walk-in robe, ensuite, and glass sliding doors opening straight to the ocean. Large open-plan living areas flow through to an enclosed dining room — perfect as a kids’ retreat or a private space for adults. Very spacious and beautifully designed.

She’s captured the beauty, light and relaxed luxury of this special coastal escape perfectly.

Michael and I worked so hard together to get the house photo-ready. I had Michael ironing beds, 25 pillowcases, fluffing pillows, pouring champagne… the list goes on!
A 5-hour photoshoot that truly paid off.
