Cowboy Recycled update:

Behind the scenes a lot continues to take place!

The Reno is done. Our to do list is shrinking rapidly.

Stock continues to arrive. With the level of interest we’ve had, we’re really nervous we don’t have anywhere near enough stock.

Word has spread the goal of Country Recycled is to raise funds to donate to entire high schools with our best selling su***de prevention resource Just One Reason. Which is now in its 10th reprint and in households, hospitals, work places in every corner of Australia.

We urgently need donations of more western style clothes, especially men’s and kids.

With the cost of living biting many, it’s easier to donate an old pair of boots, a hat, jeans, dresses etc than cash. Although we will gladly accept cash donations into Just One Reasons Charity. All donations are tax deductible.

Volunteers wanted! Most of the hard work is done.

Midweek we need clothing sorters while the shop is closed.

Sat and Sun 8-12 we need min 1-2 people to help with sales.

Deepwater has its own heroic version of Steve Irwin with a mix of Tarzan and Clark Kent!
Justin Amey and his sidekick Geoff

A month ago Justo came to our pub with an injured and dehydrated Whistling Kite. Justo got pretty mangled rescuing the injured bird. Wilson was in fight or flight mode. Wilson opted for fight. Justo was just hoping for a happy ending that the rescued bird would survive!

Wildlife carers from Uralla came and collected Wilson to assess him. It didn’t look good. Aside from a possible broken wing, he was really dehydrated. We tried our best to rehydrate Wilson. We definitely succeeded rehydrating our local hero!

A month later we got a message and video update. Wilson had recovered well enough to be released. Normally rescued birds are returned to their original location. In this case, Wilson was not returned due to lack of food which is why he was malnourished and dehydrated.
