ID please. Who is this amazing creature? Is she familiar to your area?. She is new here at Daintree Rainforest Village. She is cautious with humans and bossy to her cassowary 'partner'. Although they have spent the past fortnight wandering around side by side. .literally.
Ive never seen such behaviour.
We have also never seen such unique wattles.

Meet Bertha, she is big, and mature, cautious and inquisitive. She possibly goes by another name?
Is this the fabled Crinkle Cut from Coopers Creek?
The is home to quite a few wild cassowaries, of all ages and stages.

Its gonna be a another great night for stargazing. Clear skies at sunset. You can kick back on our guest only stargazer beds. Take a bevvie and a blankie and a camera. Watch the twinkling Milky Way span across the heavens.

Cassowary ears are unique because they are large, completely exposed, and directly connected to the massive "helmet" on their heads. While most birds have their ear holes hidden beneath a layer of specialized feathers to reduce wind noise, the cassowary’s ear holes are clearly visible on the sides of its vibrant blue neck.

Please drive slowly when you are near Daintree Rainforest Village . There are families of cassowaries, and solo cassowaries, and some unusual adult couples of cassowaries that we dont really know their story. Slow down in the heart of cassowary country.
