Let me introduce myself, my name is Alexis Perez and I have the honour to being able to share this wonderful place for you to enjoy ‘PACHAMAMA RETREAT’. I come originally from South America, Uruguay and have been living in Tasmania since 2011. I have been privileged in life to have the opportunity to travel and live around the world; and I must say that Dolphin Sands is one of the most beautiful places I have seen in the world. Pachamama means ’Mother Earth’ in Quechua and Aymara; the languages of the Andean people in South America (Pacha = Earth, Mama = Mother). Pachamama brings protection, prosperity, generosity, fertility and symbolises a balanced life based on the four Quechua principles (Water, Earth Sun and Moon). The inspiration of ‘Pachamama Retreat’ came from a trekking trip that I did through the entire Andes ranges from Ushuaia to Colombia in South America. I did this 30,000 kms trip (1000 km trekking in 34 national parks for 114 days) as a reward to myself after fighting cancer. First of all, this trip taught me a lot about living a simple life (by carrying the basics in a back pack such as food, tent and clothes), having a purpose (fulfilling life by engaging with indigenous people and reaching beautiful landscapes) and most importantly ‘living in the present’. Secondly, because I am a cancer survivor, I know how important it is to be present, because tomorrow we do not know if we will be in this wonderful planet. People in developed world seem to spend a lot of time planning about the future but sometimes they forget about ‘living’. What I have seen in developing countries from where I come from and from my travels, is that the only thing most of the people focus is on today. For example, getting food and warmth or shade (if hot country), a shelter and engaging and caring for their loved ones. Living the present is the only thing we can control. We do not have any control over the past or either the future. I am currently writing a book called ‘Step by Step’. This book explains the lessons that I learnt from fighting cancer and from that trip, which I hope to share with you soon. This book would be published as a way to raise funds for cancer charities. Nature is the best healer; and for me the sea and mountains are the best medicine! Pachamama Retreat has been developed for people to relax, connect with nature and themselves and to take time to live the moment and heal (if they need). This is a place for people to connect with mother earth, with themselves and with other people to enhance well-being by enjoying the present in a stunning beach surrounding by mountains. The inspiration of Glamping Accommodation is because I believe that life can be simple and a tent allows having a simple and comfortable place that brings us to nature; closer than conventional rooms.
