1, 516, 840 plastic straws have been eradicated by these 71 venues in Cairns Regional Council.
If laid out end to end that's enough straws to reach from Cairns Regional Council to Townsville City Council with a few to handover to the Townsville Mayor. That's 364km of plastic, plastic that is used once then ends up in landfill!!!

We know there are many more venues out there that have also gone plastic straw free, but need your help to encourage them to register with us, so they can be added into the National Plastic Straw Free Venue database - it is FREE takes 2 mins and can be done online at www.thelaststrawonthegbr.org

As Facebook can only let us tag 50 venues at a time we want you to tag your favourite venue off our list and let them know what a great job they are doing!

The Last Straw Australia has been working with the team to remove plastic straws from EVERY ONE OF THEIR 130 VENUES AROUND AUSTRALIA! That's a cool 1.6 MILLION plastic straws not going into the waste system every year. What's more, they've partnered with amazing organisation TerraCycle to collect their old straws responsibly. This is only one part of their new sustainability plan, with more details about other changes being made in their restaurants across the country. Anotger thought. Be aware.

Kudos to Munro Martin Parklands and their consideration of the environment.
They have stopped giving out the thin rain ponchos as this is another form of single use plastic.
