“TeMoana Cottage is located in a quiet neighbourhood at Orchid Beach K’gari(Fraser Island).
ACCSESS onto K’gari is by 4WD only and a QPWS vehicle permit is required. Permits can be purchased online or at the Caltex servo’ as you enter Rainbow Beach.
Vehicle/passenger barges operate from Inskip Point (Mantaray Barge) via Rainbow Beach(preferred) or from River Heads (Hervey Bay) on the western side (Sealink).
Orchid Beach Township is approx. 105km from the Mantaray barge landing at Hook Point along 75mile Beach , roughly 2-3hrs.Ideally time your barge landing 2hrs before low tide for safe travel. Beach driving and beach exits(Indian Head and Champagne Pools) conditions change frequently including rocky outcrops at Poyungan Rocks and Happy Valley, keep updated via QPWS site or contact us prior to travel.
Orchid Beach township is protected by a wongari (dingo) fence for your safety. Please visit the QPWS site for important wongari (dingo) information.
THE COTTAGE: Insulated panel walls and ceiling with blue-gum flooring and fans keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter.
Positioned for privacy , and weather protection the cottage is fully self-contained for two people , comfy king bed for a couple or can be split to share singles.
All linen supplied , including sheets, pillows/cases, doona, extra blanket, towels.
The well appointed kitchen includes pantry, dishwasher, gas cooking/hot water, electric kettle, micro-wave, air-fryer, 570ltr fridge/freezer(extra freezing space for bait available).
Covered insulated patio with fan, barbeque, laundry, storage drawers and outdoor dining.
Ample grass parking , and room for your boat. Covered fish cleaning bench. Fire drum.

Do you want to add to your adventure by flying in?, either by private aircraft or commercial ‘Air Fraser’. We will pick you up from the airstrip adjacent to the shop and return you. Over night accommodation with breaky pack by arrangement. Orchid Beach airstrip is 670mts grass over sand , 3 windsocks, unregulated , landing fee $30 payable at shop. CCTV monitored , short term parking ok’. Sorry there are no 4WD vehicle hire companies at Orchid Beach. However , we would be happy to show you our beautiful township.
A short drive or walk to Orchid Beach/ Waddy Point. 20minute drive to Champagne Pools and 40min drive to picturesque Wathumba Creek on the western side of the Island’.
Local shop/pub for basic supplies and cold refreshments at ‘Driftwood Bar’ , please see ‘Driftwood Bar’ site for restaurant hours.

Further to correspondence July 2022 to our regular visitors of many years.
We wish to let you know of changes at the Lodge.
We have ‘retired’ to the upper level of the Lodge’.
The lower level only of the Lodge will continue to be available for rent(max 5pp) , along with ‘TeMoana Cottage’ , our ‘home’ of nine years, which is private and fully self-contained for couples or a single.
We totally appreciate this change will impact your future Orchid Beach holiday options in some way which is why we are getting this update to you to secure other rental properties if need be.

TeMoana Lower level -Perfect for two couples, small family or five singles.
Three bedrooms , 2 x kings (can be split to singles), 1 x king single. Kitchen/lounge with fridge/freezer, gas cooktop, micro-wave, electric kettle & toaster, TV. Private toilet , separate bathroom/shower, laundry with chest freezer , patio (outdoor dining) has extra fridge/freezer, free standing gas oven with bbq griddles. USB power points throughout for sleep machines and electronic devices.
Undercover parking. Free wifi., boat parking.
TeMoana Cottage – Modern and perfect for a couple or single. One queen room with roomy en-suite, kitchen/lounge, electric kettle & toaster, micro-wave, dishwasher, indoor or outdoor dining. Ample covered patio with bbq/TV/laundry. Grass parking. Free wifi. Power points for sleep machines and electronic devices.

The Annual TeMoana Lodge Variety Qld Hawaiian Night fundraiser held May 1st 2021.
A truely fantastic evening , extremely well supported by Orchid Beach residents and visitors. On behalf of Bash Car 27 2021 crew a big thankyou to all who 'dug deep' on the night for Qlds special kids. Thanks also to all our sponsors both corporate and private for your continued generosity, and of course the many volunteers whose presence and thoughtfulness created an amazing experience. The hangi food was delicious and the Hawaiian theme was spectacular. Special thanks to the Orchid Beach Progress Assn for the use of the Community Building. In excess of $6300.00 raised on the night(donations are still rolling in, thank you) , just amazing. Bash car 27 is again well advanced in its 2021 fundraising and looking forward to this years Variety Bash starting in Winton and finishing in Yepoon via the iconic Birdsville Races.

There has been a media release by the Premier regarding Fraser Island and other National Parks being closed.

The closure of Fraser Island relates to visitors and campers etc, it does not apply to the following; fulltime residents, emergency services, essential service providers which includes persons required to maintain buildings, services and businesses on the island. QPWS and Island Police are working with stakeholders on a plan to get visitors and non-essential resort works off the island by pm on Friday 27.3.2020 and pm Sunday 29/3/2020. They are also working on planning to have campers etc. leave the island in an orderly process over the coming days. In response to the concerns raised by Russell, care takers for business are considered essential services and can remain on the island and can be relieved and resupplied as required. As part of the planning process accreditation for these persons will need to be developed and I will speak with you regarding this process shortly.

Residents and others will be able to leave and return to the island for resupply by the usual barge process.
