Congratulations to Sandy Neale, who became the 11th female player in club history to notch the 50 games milestone when the 3rds defeated Wallington at home on Sunday. Arriving at the club in 2021, Sandy has been a member of our women’s program since its third season, and despite a few stints on the sidelines due to injury, she has been steadily working towards this milestone for some time. Having played 33 games in the women’s 2nds (equal fourth of all-time) and 17 in the 3rds (most of all-time) Sandy has become a mainstay of the lower grades, where she can always be relied upon to give her all to the team, regardless of whether with bat, ball, or in the field.
A right-handed better who is always willing to play whatever role is asked of her, Sandy’s batting has shown persistent improvement with every season that has gone by. She has batted 32 times, registering 14 not outs, and accumulating 175 runs at an average of 9.72 and strike rate of 43.00. She has 72 runs @ 5.14 to her name in the 2nds, and 103 @ 25.75 in the 3rds (seventh most of all-time.) Sandy has gone past 30 on two occasions, both of which were recorded last season. 2025/26 saw her enjoy a career best year, in which she scored 78 runs without being dismissed, while striking at a rate of 70.91. Her career best score came last October, when she scored an unbeaten 31 from 44 balls against Little River in the 3rds. Sandy has become a reliable middle order contributor at 3rds level, where she has become known for swinging freely through the ball and haring quickly between the wickets.
Equally as likely to play a key role with the ball as with the bat, Sandy is a genuine all-rounder, and her contributions with ball in hand are just as worthy of calling out. She has sent down 56 career overs of her medium-pace, capturing 10 wickets at an average of 36.00, while conceding 6.43 runs per over and claiming a wicket every 33.60 balls. Having greatly improved her consistency from repeated hard work, she can reliably be called upon to deliver some quality overs for her team. Sandy has taken four 2nds wickets @ 44.25, to go along with six in the 3rds @ 30.50. Her career best figures (and sole three-wicket haul to date) were claimed in January 2025, when she snagged 3/9 vs Bell Post Hill in the 2nds.
Sandy has taken five catches as a fielder, while she also has two wicket-keeping catches to her name. She has been dismissed for a duck five times (one per 6.4 innings) while she secured a prized premiership medal as a member of last season’s G Grade premiership team in the 3rds. A popular teammate who brings plenty of fight and determination to every contest, Sandy is the epitome of a team player and a highly valued member of the women’s program.
