A huge congratulations to my dear friend Sal at the 🤣💫
It’s been a long haul, but finally she’s opening her gorgeous distillery tasting room in Birregurra. We’re so happy to have this new venue to chill out in. We popped in today for Sal’s soft opening. Frans had two Otway Velvets, the distillery version of an espresso martini 🍸. He said she should be selling them in a jug! I had a refreshing G&T made on the famous Forrest gin💫 The charcuterie selection for bar nibbles is perfect 👌
It’s not often we take time out on a weekend. Always jobs to do on the farm. But it was drizzly (hoping for more wet stuff!) and we took the slow road home. The backroads of Murroon and Gerangamete didn’t fail to delight. Deer, and amazing flowering gums being the highlight of the dirt roads home.

Please join the Colac Area Health Foundation at our premier fundraising event, Colac’s Longest Lunch, proudly hosted by Lake View Cafe Colac.

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon featuring three delicious courses, with complimentary white wine on each table to share. Additional drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.

We’re pleased to announce that our seating arrangements will be slightly different this year. We’re running our tables along the side of the venue and into the Botanic Garden. Our patrons will be pleased we’re avoiding the dodgy slope!

It’s time to dress up, throw on your favourite summer hat and celebrate in style with friends, food, live music and a beautiful lakeside setting.

Funds raised support the Colac Area Health Foundation to purchase essential medical equipment not otherwise funded through government programs, and to progress a major new initiative, theColac Area Health Wellbeing Centre, designed to support expanded healthcare services and community wellbeing.

Friday flowers 🌻 What a week it has been!

We’re still here. Huge thanks to our fire fighters and emergency services volunteers 🙏🙌

The garden has taken a beating in the heat. But it will bounce back.

🌸 Summer is finally here! Frans and I have spent our Christmas break getting stuck into the garden. Tidying up spent beds, planting new veg, mulching, cutting trees from the fence line (not me!), checking the bees and pulling the garden into shape.

I’m loving the poppy seed pods (still flowering!), artichoke flowers and the flush of dahlias. Waiting for the zinnias and cosmos 🌸

We bought a couple of flying hawks to keep the cockies away from the fruit trees. They might just do the trick. We have plenty of plums, pears and apples coming along. Waiting patiently for the tomatoes 🍅 (they’re slow this season).

It’s weekend. I might just down tools and read a book 📕

My garden is overwhelming me this spring. The weeds are insane. This is a small circular rose garden. I attacked it this weekend. Cleared out the weeds and left the nigella flowers. Now to mulch and do something about the empty area I’ve created in the centre. More roses? Or perhaps lavender 🤔
