Anyone feel like some quinces
We have lots available for free. Bring your own box or bags and come and pick your own. The gate to the quince orchard will be open for the next week and you can drive in from Gillentown Rd.They are delicious slow baked with butter and honey and served with icecream. Or you can stew and preserve or make quince jelly or paste.

A reminder that the garden is open next Sunday 19th April. With lots of gardeners around for the Clare Autumn Garden Festival, we think it’s a nice time to share our hard work again. With Virginia creeper making a beautiful show of colour on the wall of the BnB, the labyrinth grasses looking fresh from the rain and the roses giving us another flush, it’s really a nice time to take a quiet stroll and enjoy.

A late Life Member, Past President of the Society and a highly awarded Rosarian, Walter Duncan, has been posthumously awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to horticulture. The award was announced by Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency The Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, in today’s 2026 Australian Honours list.
Walter, who passed away aged 83 in July 2024, held the World Federation of Rose Society’s World Rose Award and the National Rose Society of Australia’s TA Stewart Memorial Award and Australian Rose Award. He was also an Honorary Life Member of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of Australia.
Many South Australian, national and international visitors travelled to Clare in South Australia’s mid-north to see his property, The Heritage Garden, Sevenhill , where he and his wife, Kay, cultivated and celebrated roses and other plants.
