Today was a very sad day.
I walked in through the doors and there were no guests,
no laughs, no cries, no questions, no one waiting cause they were locked out of their room or complaining that someone did something undesirable in the showers.
Just an empty building holding the memories of all those who entered.
To all of those guests over the many years, some of which have found love (some multiples), found heartbreak, found life long friends, and some who we have lost over the years - Glebe YHA will live on in the memories of all of you.
It is just shy of 15 years since I first walked in through these doors and just shy of 34 years since the hostel opened and will be remembered for being an authentic hostel, a 'real' hostel a place to call home away from home! Not flashy, over the top or pretentious - just a really cool hostel.
To all the staff who have contributed to our success over the years - thank you.
To all the guests who still hold a fond memory - you peeps were awesome.
I know sometime in the future years I like many of you will be sitting down with my kids and talking about some of the amazing times we all had here, then the other stories will be saved for drinks with the adults.
This is Glebe Point YHA signing out forever with a heavy heart but all the happy memories and a lingering smile yearning for one more Friday sunset BBQ with friends.
