Happy first day of Spring from us at Myalla 🌸🐝

Our favourite time of year - the bush is humming, after some recent rain and Leasha's hard work, the garden around the homestead looks an absolute picture!

Can't wait to share it with you 😊

Some seats invite you to sit. Others invite you to stay awhile.

This old refurbished church pew on Myalla’s verandah has probably seen more quiet mornings, long conversations and cups of tea than we could ever count.

No agenda. No rush. Just take a seat and watch nature go about its business for a while. 🌿

This beautiful Golden Whistler was captured by j edwards photography in the Rylstone are recently.

Usually more at home amongst dense forests and woodlands, Golden Whistlers can venture into lower-altitude areas during the cooler months in search of food. They’re particularly fond of places with plenty of leaf litter, where they forage for insects and spiders.

With their brilliant yellow plumage and unmistakable song, they’re a pretty special little visitor to spot around the property.

Keeping our eyes out for any little golden visitors that might make their way to Myalla 👀

Winter looks pretty good from here. 🌿

Clear blue skies, sunshine across the lawn, the sandstone homestead glowing in the winter light — and just a little curl of smoke from the chimney letting you know the fire is crackling away inside.

The days might be crisp in the Capertee Valley, but that’s half the charm.

Explore while the sun is out, then head inside, put another log on the fire and settle in for the evening.

When was the last time you lost yourself in the pages of a great book?

Uninterrupted. Beverage and snacks of choice within easy reach. Sun warming your hands as they turn the pages. The quiet hum of the Australian bush around you.

Myalla is the place you’re looking for 📖

Thank you Mel ❤️

There’s something about a crackling fire in an old sandstone homestead on a cold winter’s day.

Pull up a chair, pour yourself something warm and settle in while the fire does its thing.

Outside, the Capertee Valley might be serving up frosty mornings and crisp winter air. Inside Myalla, the fire is burning, the old timber floors are warm underfoot and there’s absolutely nowhere you need to be.

We welcomed some beautiful rain at Myalla over the last couple of days. After heavy frosts and days of relentless wind, it was exactly what the land needed.

There’s a different kind of magic in watching rain fall over this place in winter.

Huddled inside by the fire it's easy to gain a whole new appreciation for the creature comforts as you watch birds fluff up their feathers and huddle together on rain soaked branches.

The rain pelts down on the tin roof of the homestead and as you warm your hands around a hot cup by a friendly fire, you think about all of the storms this old place has endured over its many years of life.

You wonder where all of the kangaroos and wallabies go to hide and keep warm while they wait on the weather to clear so they can come out and feast on fresh new shoots.

And then when the storm lifts and you venture outside, there’s the smell. Fresh, clean and crisp - with that unmistakable mix of damp earth and eucalyptus hanging in the air.

The paddocks soften. The dust settles. Everything feels a little more alive.

Rain at Myalla has a way of refreshing more than just the land.
