ICY COLD SUNRISE
Even the golden Sun looks cold, rising pale as the clouds cleared away with wispy cirrus clouds above. It was well below freezing again at the . See the Sun's position now clearly moving southward and outside of the winter solstice Avenue as viewed from the central trio. In a fortnight the mid point will be reached between solstice and equinox, where the rightmost stone stands in the last picture. It will remain chill in into the weekend, with the day warming to around 15, so bring your winter woollies!

GOLDEN DUSK
Ahead of a beautiful winter weekend in , the Sun set golden to the northwest behind the central trio at the . It's by looking outwards from the centre of the monument that all alignments are made for sunrise and sunset.

The important role of three central stones is equalled in their symbolism. The central golden Australis stone represents the people of Australia. At the winter solstice it is lit by the sunrise light, an intense gold on gold.

The northern of the trio is called the Gaelic Stone, and represents the heritage of Scotland (Alba), Ireland (Éire) and Isle of Man (Mannin), whose Celtic languages are Gàidhlig (Scots Gaelic), Gaeilge (Irish) and Gaelg (Manx), respectively. Gaelic is an English word used for them.

The southern of the trio is called the Brythonic Stone, and represents the heritage of Wales (Cymru), Cornwall (Kernow) and Brittany (Breizh), whose Celtic languages are Cymraeg (Welsh), Kernewek (Cornish) and Brezhoneg (Breton).

So what an amazing amount of Celtic heritage is symbolised by these three stones. And the meeting of the three stones represents the Celtic Australian heritage celebrated!
