Winter Solstice ~ 21 June ☀️
Come to Glen Innes and experience the shortest day of the year.

Stay at The Bruce and rise early to witness the Winter Solstice sunrise at the Australian Standing Stones, where the first light of the shortest day of the year shines through the stone circle and lights the centre stone.

Then choose your own pace. Wander through the day’s celebrations, or return to the cabin, stoke the fire, pour a cup of tea and lean into the calm.

Just over 12 months ago we welcomed our first guests to The Bruce. It was wet, soggy and cold and we were busted - but oh so excited!
It’s hard to believe we’re a year down the track..partly because it feels like just yesterday, yet at the same time feels like it was about 5 years ago 😵‍💫

What an incredible time it’s been. We have met so many beautiful people from all over and absolutely delighted in sharing our part of the world with them.

We’ve gotten really good at making a bed, fluffing cushions and setting fires. We’ve watched the garden evolve…then die..or be eaten…sadly more than once! We’ve watched the space change and grow with the seasons. And we’ve loved how it’s let us continue to dream and grow - for ourselves, the future of Morilla and the fabulous ideas that we look forward to bringing to our guests in the very near future.

Thanks for following along and supporting The Bruce. We’re looking forward to YEAR TWO.

How did you spend your weekend?

For us it was filled with some of our favourite people, lots of chatting, watching the children play and plenty of good food. We had moments of sunshine, moments of drizzle and moments of cool, wintery breezes.
Today as the first day of winter we are being treated to some very beautiful winter morning sun. The perfect start to the week.

Can you spot the little faces?

Counting the wallabies and kangaroos along the driveway has become the highlight of our morning commute to town.
Some mornings it’s one little family, with a dinky Joey cosy in mum’s pouch and other mornings you can spot them everywhere you look.
On Sunday we spotted TWENTY EIGHT plus 3 wild pigs with 12 mini piglets down by the creek.

Everyday is different around here. It never ceases to amaze us.

Mornings at The Bruce don’t rush. Coffee, quiet and nowhere to be.

Yoo-hoo, anyone home?

It’s interesting how over time you stop noticing changes and then one day things hit you in the face a bit…a stark realisation and acknowledgement of just how much things have in fact changed. Over the past few months we have been watching the landscape become very muted and brown. We’ve been seeing this every day and of course modifying the way we work, move, live and farm to account for this change. But it’s not until we look back at photos like this one and we get the big whack of really really noticing! Oh how wonderful it will be to see colour like this again.
