Hello everyone,

Thank you to everyone who turned up to the meeting last night, we had a total of 29 leaders, volunteers, parents, current and past committee members come and share their thoughts, ideas and views on where to from here.

For those not at the meeting last night I offered 5 options from doing nothing, handing Burnet Park to GGV to dispose of, finding another organisation to take it on, forming a minimal committee to keep things ticking in the short term or forming a new management committee of 5-7 people with an adjunct reforming of the Friends of Burnet Park. Due to Burnet Park being given in trust to Girl Guides by the Burnet family, the sale of Burnet Park has never and will never be an option.

Overwhelmingly the response from those present last night is that we want to form a new management committee of 5-7 people with an adjunct reforming of the Friends of Burnet Park with the aim of keeping costs low by completing grant applications and general maintenance on site. It was noted that leaders, volunteers, parents and carers are busy people and that many of us do not have the time to take this on. However, it was also noted by the vast majority present last night that Burnet Park and what it represents for the girls and leaders as well as the local communities is too important to walk away from and that many of us could find time to contribute to keeping this valuable resource. We had a few offers for assistance for the management committee and many offers for the Friends of Burnet Park which is fabulous. To formalise the nomination of our new committee and those interested in participating in the Friends of Burnet Park I would like to invite you to complete the following form as a formal expression of interest. You did not have to be at last night's meeting to nominate yourself or others to the committee and members do not have to be current members of Girl Guides nor just female. To nominate yourself or someone else please follow this link (https://forms.office.com/r/Hqi5ekmmVz) and complete the form by no later than 11:45pm on Sunday the 2nd of June. Please note that I need a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 people to put their hands up to form this committee to get this off the ground and moving forward. I would like to encourage everyone to have a think about those others that are in their lives with skills that could be useful for either the management committee or the Friends of Burnet Park group and forward this email through to them to complete the nomination form.

Once the nomination process is complete, I will reach out to those nominees and we will arrange a meeting to move forward in forming the next committee of management and Friends of Burnet Park.

There really is a fitting role for each person in the world of volunteering and Girl Guiding!

Applications to join Strzelecki Showtime in 2023 are now open!

If you're an active member of Scouts Victoria or Girl Guides Victoria aged 10 or over by the 16th of June, this could be you on stage at the fabulous Gippsland Performing Arts Centre in October.

Not a confident singer/dancer/actor? That's okay. Showtime is all about building confidence, developing skills, making heaps of new friends and most of all, having heaps of fun!
