✨ A Night to Remember at Lodge Gloucester No. 291 ✨

What a wonderful evening it was at the Re-installation Ceremony of Worshipful Brother Desmond McLure as Worshipful Master of Lodge Gloucester No. 291.

The night was filled with tradition, fellowship, and brotherly love.

The ceremony was followed by a warm and enjoyable Installation Dinner at Gloucester Golf Club, where brethren and guests shared laughter, stories, and friendship.

It was truly a memorable night, one that reminded us of the strength of our Masonic bonds and the joy of coming together in harmony.

🔹 To Worshipful Brother Desmond McLure, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for the year ahead. 🔹

Happy Birthday, Brother Ian Shaw! 🎉🍻
Another year older, another year wiser… or at least that’s what they tell us in Lodge. 😉

May your day be filled with good cheer, great company, and maybe just enough cake to rival the festive board! 🎂🍴

Don’t worry, Brother — age in Freemasonry doesn’t show in years, only in how many times you’ve survived Installation dinners. 😂🔺

Cheers to you, Brother Ian! 🥂

🔥 Let’s Break a 60-Year Record! 🔥

In 1965, Gloucester Lodge No. 291 gathered 139 brethren for the Investiture of Officers—a night of unity, pride, and Masonic history.

This year, NSW & ACT brethren, it’s our turn.
Let’s honour that legacy, fill the hall, and set a new record!

'People think farming and Freemasonry are different worlds.

But they're not.
Both are about:
Planting seeds and being patient.
Working with your hands and your heart.
Building something that lasts generations.
Depending on your neighbours when times get tough.
In drought, other farmers help.
In the lodge, the Brothers help. Same principle, different situations.

The land teaches you to be humble. Freemasonry teaches you to be wise. Together, they teach you to be useful.

Still learning. Still growing. Still useful.

That's what a good life looks like.'

Last day of July - time flies when you're focused on growth.

In Freemasonry, we measure progress not by how much you've achieved, but by how much you've grown.

The successful businessman who learns humility. The quiet man who develops confidence. The young man who gains wisdom. The skeptic who learns to trust.

Everyone starts somewhere. Everyone has room to grow.

The question isn't 'Am I good enough?' The question is 'Am I committed to getting better?'

That's a question every man can answer 'yes' to.

What growth have you noticed in yourself this month?

Midweek thought: The difference between fitting in and belonging.

Fitting in means changing yourself to match the group. Belonging means finding a group where you can be yourself while growing.

In many social situations, we learn to fit in - say the right things, laugh at the right jokes, avoid controversial topics.

But in lodge, the goal is belonging. You're accepted for who you are, encouraged to grow into who you could be.

That's rare in today's world. Most places want you to conform. Few places want you to transform.

Where in your life do you feel like you truly belong?

In vs Belonging

Hard truth: Most men are lonelier than they admit.

We're good at work. We're good at hobbies. We're good at talking about sports, weather, and politics.

But when it comes to real friendship - the kind where you can be vulnerable, ask for help, or admit you're struggling - many men are flying solo.

That's not weakness. That's normal.

But it doesn't have to be permanent.

Freemasonry exists because men need other men. Not for competition or comparison, but for connection and growth.

The strongest men I know are the ones who've learned to lean on others when life gets heavy.

Who do you lean on when life gets heavy?

MYTH: 'Freemasonry is dying out - just old men hanging on'

REALITY: Good men are becoming Freemasons regularly, including young fathers, career-changers, and men seeking genuine connection.

Why? Because the need for brotherhood doesn't age out.

Every generation faces the same challenges:

How to be a good man in challenging times?
How to build lasting friendships?
How to find meaning beyond work and money?
How to contribute to something bigger and better than yourself?
The answers might look different, but the questions remain the same.

That's why 25-year-olds and 75-year-olds sit next to each other in lodge and both learn something new.

Timeless needs, timeless solutions.
