Sand replacement work at our doorstep now, to get Main Beach ready for this summer. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

BEACHES RESTORATION UPDATE
Main Beach remains the focus for the offshore dredging vessel Trud R, with operations continuing there over the coming weeks.
Weโ€™re already seeing positive results, with beach widths increasing across Main Beach.
These benefits will be further supported by the Sand Backpass System in the weeks and months ahead.
Sand backpassing is scheduled to commence at Main Beach from Monday 23 June, placing sand northwards along the Hollindale Park beachfront up to the Southport SLSC carparks.
The sand pipeline will then shift focus southward toward Narrowneck over the following 8 weeks.
Our recovering beaches are expected to face added pressure as we approach the highest tides of the month.
Sand trucking from The Spit sand stockpile to Higman Street and Main Beach will continue into next week, ensuring we have sand on hand to help minimise erosion impacts.

Sunday morning, and although we thought that Friday night into Saturday was the worst of it, the wind experienced all day Saturday was a bit concerning. It moved from a SE to an Easterly as the TC hit landfall north of Brisbane, and the wind on Saturday was constant and easily 50km/h+ all day. Today the wind has eased a bit (still windy though), and more rain predicted.
There are numerous buildings in the area without power for days now (Including Park Lane directly across from us), so we're very fortunate. Only issue to report is small water ingress somewhere tripping some of the basement lights.

Saturday morning, and the worst of the wind is over, however still very windy and blustery.
Surprisingly Oscar on Main doesn't appear to have lost any palm trees, and we're one of the lucky ones still with power.
Main Beach & Hollindale Park has taken a big hit with trees down and scarping up to the path.
Strong winds and heavy rain still projected for the next day or two.
No reports of damage to apartments. ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿšจ 11:20PM AEST: CYCLONE ALFRED has been DOWNGRADED to a CATEGORY 1 system as it begins to interact with Moreton and Stradbroke Islands. Gusts up to 120km/h are impacting the coast and are likely to continue over the coming hours as Alfred makes landfall โ€” HOWEVER โ€” DESTRUCTIVE WIND GUSTS of 155km/h are NO LONGER EXPECTED.

The number of power outages continues to grow across the city, as Alfredโ€™s winds continue to bring down trees and power lines.

Late Friday night, and since 6pm it has continued to intensify. There are lots of clips online & on the news already, but here's a quick one of our entrance area.
We're being hit hard from the south, so centre apartments and North east apartments are faring a bit better. No known issues in the building, and no power lost here (yet) in Main Beach.

Friday afternoon, further damage to the fencing along the path in Hollindale Park, which is now cordoned off by the police. Lifeguard tower #40 at the Southport Surf Club has been saved and pulled back, along with the statue.
The Yoga by the Beach area is ok so far, so should hopefully be ok for the local yogis when the conditions allow it.

Friday lunchtime, and the police have now blocked off access to Marine Parade in front of the Tourist Park and down to the Southport Surf Club .
The fierce ocean has now damaged the fencing along the pathway, and all the way up to the lifesaver tower. The beach is gone.
Still minimal wind, a bit of rain here and there though. The extended wait continues....

Cyclone Alfred has continued to stall, now expected to hit Saturday morning. The beaches have been decimated, however Oscar on Main has experienced nothing more than a bit of rain overnight and the odd wind gust. So all good here for now. The wait continues...
