⚠️ Important update for recreational fishers at Goolwa Beach
Pipis (Goolwa Cockles) collected from Goolwa Beach (Middleton Point to the Murray Mouth) should currently be used for bait only due to detected brevetoxins.
✔️ Commercially harvested p**is (south of the Murray Mouth) remain safe to eat
✔️ All commercial shellfish in South Australia continues to undergo strict testing to ensure food safety
While recent water testing shows no active algal bloom, p**is can retain toxins in the environment even after blooms have passed.
🪧 Signage will be in place along Goolwa Beach in multiple languages to inform fishers.
📅 Reminder: Recreational p**i collection closes 31 May
