KURANGK
This NAIDOC Week, we celebrate β€˜50 years of deadly’ and the enduring connection of the Ngarrindjeri people to the Kurangk (Coorong).

For thousands of years, the Coorong has been a place of culture, community and connection. Its waters, dunes and wetlands tell stories that continue today, reminding us that this is a living cultural landscape.

Throughout winter, our Coorong cruises continue to visit places of deep cultural significance, including ancient Aboriginal middens that provide a powerful reminder of the countless generations who have lived, gathered and cared for this remarkable Country. As we travel through Kurangk, we encourage our guests to experience the landscape with curiosity, respect and an appreciation for its rich Ngarrindjeri heritage.

The image featured here captures Uncle Mark Koolmatrie from Kool Tours during a smoking ceremony, an experience that forms part of our much-loved Full-Day Cultural Immersion cruises. Each spring, these special departures return, offering guests the opportunity to hear Ngarrindjeri stories firsthand, experience cultural traditions, and gain a deeper understanding of the Coorong through the knowledge and generosity of its Traditional Custodians.

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, we acknowledge the Ngarrindjeri Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the Kurangk. We are grateful for the opportunity to respectfully share this extraordinary landscape and look forward to welcoming Uncle Mark and our cultural guides back on board later this year.

Kurangk. Country. Culture. Connection.
