Sheep are as much a part of the Australian landscape as the rolling hills themselves.

There are still more sheep than people in this country, with millions of them grazing across properties like this every day. Most are Merinos, prized for producing some of the finest wool in the world — each one growing enough each year to be turned into a suit or a handful of jumpers.

And while they might seem simple out here in the paddock, sheep are sharper than they look, able to recognise dozens of other sheep — and even remember a familiar face.
