Just in case you didnβt know, Burraluba provides affordable accommodation for local Aboriginal people who are employed or undertaking education or training. This is a steppingstone for individuals and provides a range of additional services such as transportation, accommodation management and other support.

The Burraluba Yura Ngurra Workers Hostel is a safe, supported, stable and affordable accommodation option for Aboriginal people in the Shire of Halls Creek. The Program aims to increase employment and training opportunities while providing a support service and accommodation management to Aboriginal people who are working and find it hard to live with family due to overcrowding and humbug for money. Burraluba supports resident to build:
Financial independence by helping residents engages in training, work and building financial management skills.
Personal independence - by helping them builds the skills and support networks required for social participation and to manage residency obligations independently.
Our facilities and services
At the Burraluba Yura Ngurra Workerβs Hostel, there are both family units and single/couple units available.
Single/couple units - Furnished single rooms with own ensuite, shared kitchen facilities with other singles and shared laundry facility in common area. Private balcony
Family units - Furnished two bedroom units with their own kitchens. Individual outdoor area, shared laundry facility in common area. Maximum of four people (including children) will assigned to these 2 bedroom units.
In addition to the accommodation itself, the Hostel also has communal facilities of a shared kitchen, recreation room, laundry and parking areas available for resident use.
The Hostel provides support services to its residents, each of which is tailored to meet individual needs for residents to help build their capability to manage their lives. These include:
Morning drop off and pick-ups in town (with a strict no late night pick-up policy)
Residential responsibilities
Home Skills
Career Planning
Financial management
Referrals to local services (e.g., Yuri Yungi Indigenous Medical Service, School pick-ups)
