We've never been so happy to report that the weather is awful. Rain has been falling steadily all morning, and it feels like enough rain to make a difference, especially in remote parts of the bush. The bushfire is not out, but the parts that are close to town are contained and under control.

Rumour has it we'll be open for business later this week. That rumour started before the rain. Officially the National Park is still closed, but if you were thinking about your plans for the rest of January, you could safely include Halls Gap from this weekend.

If there has ever been a time to come back to Halls Gap, it is now. This town needs your support, and this motel needs your support.

We’d like to thank Jack from Benzina Magazine and his team for his vision and commitment for what we’re sure became the most epic flood related reroute in vic state emergency scenic detour history. Not certain that we would have driven a $25 million dollar McClaren with such bravery and verve through such extreme state of emergency conditions. Welcome to the Gariwerd Motel. It is our pleasure to host your crew and celebrate staying above water…just.
We’d like to invite any members of our community to come and watch the rally precession around 9:30 tomorrow morning, come rain or shine, low or high water.
