🌿 Things Are Looking Up in the Flinders Ranges! 🌿

Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for your patience, understanding and support as we’ve navigated the challenges of the recent wet weather and the impact it has had on our property and the wider region.

🚙 SKYTREK IS OPEN!
Our Skytrek Self-Drive 4WD Track is now open and accessible to experienced 4WDers, and it’s wonderful to see vehicles heading out on the track again.

🛣️ MORE GOOD NEWS!
The Wilpena to Blinman Road is now OPEN to 4WD vehicles.

A huge thank you to DIT and their crews, who have continued working tirelessly to get roads throughout the region open and accessible despite the ongoing challenges. Their efforts are very much appreciated.

⚠️ A quick update on access to Willow Springs:
Our driveway is unfortunately still quite treacherous and remains inaccessible to 2WD vehicles and caravans at this stage.

The good news is that things are finally beginning to dry out, which means we can start getting machinery onto the driveway and begin the work needed to get it back into shape. Our team is doing everything in our power to have access restored as quickly as possible so that all of our visitors can once again come and experience the Flinders Ranges in all the incredible beauty it is offering right now.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the neighbouring properties, local businesses and members of our community who have generously offered their time, equipment and assistance to help us get things up and running again. The support we have received has been truly appreciated.

🌱 After plenty of rain, mud, road closures and a whole lot of patience, things are slowly heading in the right direction.

We’re looking forward to a busy spring, with hopefully some indulgent weather, breathtaking scenery, a countryside refreshed by rain and, most importantly, plenty of visitors out enjoying our beautiful part of the world.

The Flinders Ranges are waiting — and they’re looking pretty spectacular right now! ❤️

⛺️CAMPING SITES CLOSURE ⛺️

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing wet conditions and further rainfall expected towards the end of the week, we have made the decision to close our camp sites until at least Monday.

The ongoing wet conditions has taken its toll on our driveway, and the additional traffic is making conditions increasingly difficult. To help protect the road and ensure safe access, we feel closing the camp sites temporarily is the best option.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, particularly to guests with upcoming bookings. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we give the ground a chance to dry out and recover.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide further updates as they become available.

Thank you for bearing with us — we’re certainly looking forward to seeing a little more sunshine!

REGIONAL ROAD & TRACK UPDATE

Following the recent significant weather event across the Northern Flinders Ranges, we would like to provide an update on current closures and restrictions in the region.

Unfortunately, the Skytrek Self Drive 4WD Track has been impacted by the weather and will remain closed for the near future. We are working towards having the track accessible again in the coming weeks and will provide updates here on our social media as they become available.

At this stage, several other tracks and roads throughout the region also remain closed, including Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges within the National Park, Parachilna Gorge and Glass Gorge. We have been advised that these will not be reviewed until the end of next week, and until that assessment takes place, their current closure status remains unchanged.

For the latest official road information, please visit the SA Traffic Outback Roads website:
https://dit.sa.gov.au/outbackroads

The good news is there are still plenty of places to visit and things to experience throughout the region.

Attractions and experiences currently open and accessible include:

* Wadna
* Blinman Heritage Mine Tours
* Blinman Hotel
* The Miners Crib Cafe Bakery and Accommodation
* Prairie Hotel – accessible via Hawker
* Royal Victoria Hotel, Beltana accessible via Hawker
* Jeff Morgan gallery
* Flinders Food Co.
* The Hawker General Store & Post Office
* Walking trails around Hawker
* Woolshed Restaurant - Rawnsley Park Station
* Walking trails around Rawnsley Park Station
* Arkaroo Rock
* Appealinna Ruins
* Walking trails here at Skytrek Willow Springs Station

While the recent weather has certainly impacted access to some areas, there is still plenty to see, explore and enjoy across the Northern Flinders Ranges.

We sincerely appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience while roads and tracks are assessed and repaired. We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.

⚠️ Weather & Property Update ⚠️

📞 Our phones are currently down. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to restore services.

🌧️ Over the past 48 hours, we’ve received an incredible 125mm of rain!

🌳💨 Thanks to the amazing efforts of our staff, guests and family, we’ve been able to clear our driveway of the many trees that came down during last night’s strong winds. We can’t thank everyone enough for rolling up their sleeves and helping out – your support has been incredible. ❤️

🚫 At this stage, Skytrek Self Drive 4WD track will likely remain closed for the rest of this week while we continue to assess conditions and ensure it is safe for visitors.

🚗 If you’re due to arrive over the coming days, please bear with us as we continue monitoring road closures and using local knowledge to determine the safest access.

📧 If you’d like to discuss your reservation or explore your options, please email us at [email protected].

🙏 Thank you for your understanding, patience and ongoing support during this challenging weather event. We’ll continue to keep everyone updated as conditions change.

🐾 Wildlife Wednesday 🦎

A visit to Skytrek Willow Springs Station isn’t just about incredible landscapes and outback adventures—you’ll also meet a few of our resident reptile ambassadors in reception!

Meet Rusty, our friendly Central Bearded Dragon. Native to Australia’s arid regions, these fascinating reptiles can live anywhere from 6 to 15 years and grow up to 60 cm long. They’re well known for their calm, inquisitive nature and the spiky “beard” beneath their throat, which they puff out when they feel threatened. While they’re popular as pets, they require specialised care, including the correct lighting, heating, and habitat to thrive. The collage below is Rusty enjoying his favourite meal of crickets.

You’ll also spot our adorable Thick-tailed Geckos, affectionately known as Barking Geckos (pictured below) thanks to the surprising defensive bark they can produce! These small, ground-dwelling geckos are native to southern Australia and grow to around 8 cm in body length. Their striking dark purple-black colouring, covered in tiny white or yellow spots, along with their broad, fat tails, makes them easy to recognise. They’re gentle little reptiles and are often recommended for those new to reptile keeping.

Both Rusty and our geckos absolutely love crickets—they’re definitely a favourite on the menu! Our crickets are well looked after too, being fed fresh grated carrot and lettuce to keep them healthy and nutritious for our reptiles. You may also notice the little blue water balls in the cricket container, which provide the crickets with a safe source of hydration.

Next time you’re checking in, take a moment to say hello! Our resident reptiles are always happy to help introduce visitors to some of the amazing wildlife that calls the Australian outback home. 🦎💚

Sorry about the commentary. Can’t mute it 😬🤣
