This week marked the end of Meaney’s Rest as one of Hawker’s premiere BnBs.
It’s with mixed emotions that I’ve sold to the Viliwarinha Yura Aboriginal Corporation. Mixed because it’s been such a joy to run and such a privilege to have owned, sad because it’s the end of an era and I will certainly miss the bragging rights of owning such a beautiful property 😃

It will be transformed it into an Aboriginal Art Gallery that I truly hope will help bring Hawker onto the Australian stage and perhaps further, increasing tourism for our gorgeous part of the world.

This post wouldn’t be complete without massive thank you to my dear mother, Vicki who has ceaselessly cared for it, chatted to and charmed guests and without whom Meaney’s Rest would never have been what it became. Nor would it be complete without a huge thank you, to Phil and Monique for the renovations that restored it, and to my fantastic cleaning staff over the years, my dear departed Nanna (Hazel), Chelsea, Denni, Barbara, Suzanne, Di, Amy and Amanda.
And of course, last but definitely not least, to ALL the guests and followers of this page that helped make it the place it was, you are most sincerely thanked.

Homely Cottage will continue to run as a BnB and hopefully charm people with its unique character well into the future.

To the new owners, I have the greatest of hope for you and the future and for all that
Meaney’s Rest, 68 Cradock Rd Hawker will become.

A quick G’day from Meaney’s Rest in the beautiful Flinders Ranges.
Here’s hope everyone has been keeping safe and the worst is now behind us.
It’s been a tough period with 100% cancellations for April/May and over 90% for June and July but this time hasn’t been wasted.
Our bathroom will be getting a quick freshen up (new grouting etc), much of the kitchen will be refitted with some new cupboards and doors and a stone mason employed to work on the exterior for a well-needed spruce up.
We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

Our new 6m x 6m carport for Meaney’s Rest is almost complete.
Many thanks to Heath Fels, Wayne Cameron and Phil Case for a fantastic job done.

At the moment it’s looking a little out of place (being so new) but it’ll provide some much needed shade for guest’s cars in summer.

Booking availabilities still exist over summer.

It’s been a while between posts, but Meaney’s now has a beautiful single four poster bed and queen sized bed in the ‘white room’ (bedroom number 3). That’s a total of 3 Queen sized beds, one single and two trundles available with lovely comfy mattresses.

A 58” TV now takes pride of place in the lounge with the 42” in the master bedroom.

The 58” TV is voice activated. Ask it to play your favourite show, use your voice to pause and play Netflix, ask what actors are in the show you’re watching, ask it to play you songs on Spotify. It can tell you the weather, tell you the time or even tell you a joke!

Meaney’s Rest now has a Nespresso Coffee machine for guest use ... kick back after a hard day exploring the Flinders Ranges with your favourite coffee in hand whilst you slip into one of our wonderfully soft dressing gowns (supplied for guest use) and hotel-style slippers (yours to take with you!)

NB: we supply only a limited amount of Nespresso pods for guest use, but feel free to bring your own supply of your favourite Nespresso compatible pods 😋☕️😀
