Miss Farley’s Lounge
An ode to bold women and beautiful spirits.

The Union Hotel has stood in the heart of Heathcote since 1856 — one of only two 19th-century pubs still pouring today.

In 1865, Irish-born John Farley became licensee, beginning an 80-year family legacy. But it was his daughter Alice who truly left her mark. Visionary, independent, and unafraid to innovate, Alice ran the hotel for over four decades. She launched Farley’s Red Paint on-site, turned the Union into one of the first buildings in town to shine with electric light, and once filled the streets with Highland pipes on Christmas Eve, 1915.

In 2025, Miss Farley’s Lounge was created in her honour — a space for quiet elegance, conversation, and carefully curated drinks.
