My last cooked breakfast!
Margaret and David Best from Skelton-on-Ure, near York in the UK, are my last guests.
Margaret and David are here for their neice’s wedding.
Margaret and David and I have the following in common:
- both travelled to Borneo
- both travelled to Uganda and did the National Parks and wild animals eg chimpanzees, giraffes, elephants, lions, hippos.
-both travelled Germany twice,
- both been to South Africa,
- both been to New Zealand, Tasmania, the Isle of Wight.
- both travelled to Canada incl Vancouver, Banff, Calgary, Montreal, Quebec, Toronto.
- both seen Niagara Falls.
- both been to Paris
- I’ve been Hot Air Ballooning in the Yarra Valley and they went Hot Air Ballooning in Kenya.
- all 3 of us were with our Mum’s when they died.
- we both got married in a church
- Margaret and I love gardening.
- David and I both love driving.
- David and I have both climbed Sydney Harbour Bridge.
- David is fluent in French and German and I can speak a bit of German.
- Margaret and I have brown eyes.
- we all like animals and pets and they’ve loved Bobby and Snowy.
- both of us have walked the tree tops walk at Apollo Bay.
- both have eaten goat in Africa.
- we’ve been in little planes, me in PNG and Margaret and David flew in a little plane in Botswana.
- and finally, the 3 of us went to the Source of the River Nile, Jinja, Uganda, and laughed at the little sign in the middle of the big river.
Life is really amazing when you have conversations with those around you.

Spring has sprung!
Folks, this will be my last Spring in my garden.
I’ve been blessed to have my Dad’s love of gardening and not be horrified at dirt on my hands and socks all green from mowing.
I’ve had a wonderful time creating and owning Austin Rise B&B. It’s been 11 years of hearing lots of stories, meeting fabulous guests from all over the world. 🎉🙏
I’m moving to New Zealand on the 16th October. ✈️
I’ll be creating another beautiful garden in Whitianga which will also be my new B&B.

Hello!
I went off to South Africa for 2 weeks and Uganda for a month .
This is me at the Better Tomorrow Community Center volunteering my time for a few days at the end of my trip.
I loved Uganda.
And I’m back to help raise more money to support this outstanding Centre in Luwero.

The Gardens are beautiful and definitely worth a visit.

Hello! Emma is my Amazing Assistant Manager while I’m on 6 weeks holiday in South Africa and Uganda.
Thank you Geoff and Helen for staying with me and thank you for these beautiful words to Emma. Yes, Emma has been outstanding with my guests, the housekeeping, keeping Bobby and Snowy loved up and my home immaculate for my Open For Inspections on Saturdays.

I’m currently snug in the Airport hotel in Johannesburg. I had lunch with a dear friend of mine yesterday and even caught the train by myself to our lunch date!
