Great to see Ntaria Supermarket included in Outback Stores' latest annual report 🤩👍

Hermannsburg/Ntaria is a community lying in the traditional lands of the Western Arrarnta people. After staff and management changes in 2021, the local owners of Ntaria Supermarket decided to strengthen and stabilise their business by approaching Outback Stores.

After three years working with Outback Stores, Nicholas Williams says, “as directors we have a better understanding of how the business is doing.” He appreciates the transparency of working with Outback Stores, thanks to its stock control, accounting services, and regular meetings.

Nicholas has also seen his staff grow in confidence and capability due to the certified retail training available to all store employees, saying “on-the-job training is best for our people.” Over the past three years, four local store team members have completed certified training.

Thanks to Steven Enalanga for featuring on the front cover of our Annual Report 2023-24! 🤩

Steven works at Ntaria Supermarket in Hermannsburg (Ntaria), a community of around 550 people in the West MacDonnell Ranges of Central Australia.

Steven has completed a Certificate II in Retail Services, thanks to the support of the Outback Stores training team and store managers who provided mentoring throughout the process.

“Now I understand more about how the store works” says Steven, who takes pride in store presentation and operating the cash registers.

Nicholas Williams, chairperson of the store’s local board of directors, has enjoyed seeing Steven’s growth over the past three years.

“I’ve seen a big change in him, especially after completing his certificates. Having the job and providing for his children has built up his confidence and given his family stability,” says Nicholas.

Congratulations to Shivani, Corey, Trevor, Rocky & Simon! 🥳

Five students from Ntaria School completed their Certificate I in Retail Services this week, through the VET in School program offered by Outback Stores. 👏 They were taught the foundations of store work with practical experience provided at Ntaria Supermarket & Campground, learning customer service, cash register operation and product presentation.

“It was great to watch the students grow in confidence and develop skills that they’ll be able to apply to all aspects of life,” says Emma Skyba, Training Officer.

Welcome to our school-based trainees! 🤩 The skills you learn in retail (people skills, time management, organisation, practicality!) will come in useful your whole life 👍

Thanks to Nicholas Williams (left), store director at Ntaria Supermarket & Campground, for supporting a school-based trainee program in the community of Hermannsburg (NT)!

These students will get practical retail experience by working in their local community store, while completing online training modules with the assistance of the Outback Stores training team.

Their work experience is completed during term time and school hours, with duties including learning how to use the registers, store presentation, and work health and safety requirements.
