Sunday Tassie inspo . . . located in the Tasman Sea off the east coast of Tasmania, Maria Island includes a marine area of nearly 19 square kilometres! The rise and fall of the ocean has eternalised these marine creatures and fossilised them in the sea cliffs. With long sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, an abundance of wildlife and a multi-layered rich history, Maria Island National Park is a very special place. Beautifully captured here by .bevis the old penal colony building and windswept trees are an iconic sight. A 1.5 hour drive from Hobart, then a 30 minute ferry ride from Triabunna will have you on the island bird watching, snorkelling, hiking or just admiring the spectacular views.

Captains Cottage was a delightful contrast to the Captain’s life at sea, absent from life on shore for long periods of time. Dropping anchor here provided a place to rejuvenate and restore, until the next seafaring adventure.

Sunday Tassie inspo . . . just a short stroll from Captains Cottage is Hobart’s iconic waterfront. A working fishing harbour amongst fine Georgian warehouses with an atmosphere that’s both charmingly heritage and quintessentially seafaring. Lobster pots, salty breezes and the symphony of seagulls and clanking halyards will have you falling in love and plotting your next return. A must do is fish and chips from the local fishmonger in a floating punt, while basking in the Tassie sun and watching the bustle of activity. You might even spot the odd wayward seal.
