Earlier this year Alex and I (Liz) handed over our beloved to its new owners Marianne and Mike Gammans, a caring and lovely couple who intend to continue to operate as we have done so for the past 10 years. Handing feels the end of an era, but also the beginning of something new for us and we truly couldn’t have found better owners to pass our barn baton onto.
As many of you might know Alex and I purchased the straight out of University - our heads and hearts fresh with architectural ideas. Almost immediately after settlement we embarked on converting the 1820s stable into one bedroom home. We learnt so much! We will be forever grateful for the experience and to those who helped us along the way. We simply couldn’t have transformed the space without the help of the builders (then Cordwell Lane), Peter Spratt, Aldanmark Engineers, , Andrew Otto, and our many friends and peers who rolled up their sleeves and/or provided sage architectural advice along the way. Thank you!
Thank you to all of our friends who helped build our accommodation business. To those who cleaned, responded to guests (and the odd emergency!) when we were away, stacked firewood, watered plants and made Aesop drop-offs - we are so grateful! Running a small business takes a village and we could not have done it without you.
We would also like to thank for presenting our space to the world for sale. Georgie saw as we see it - a small, rare and delightful piece of Tasmanian architecture.
Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alex Nielsen pictured above. I may be the voice of but Alex is certainly the heart. Without his big ideas, nagging enthusiasm and general passion for pushing the envelope, would not have succeeded as a piece of architecture or as boutique accommodation offering. Alex has painted doors, clean floors, and taken calls from guests at 2 AM - he’s legit and we are lucky to have him!
It’s been an absolute TIME, thank you!
All our love,
Liz and Alex
