🛍️Tasmania’s newest shopping centre, Spring Farm Village, is now open.

Monica led the planning work on the project, supporting Tipalea Partners and the project team from early approvals through to delivery. The project demonstrates what can be achieved from an experienced team who take a positive, solutions-focused approach to navigating the approvals pathway, backed by a client who is genuinely committed to achieving the best outcome possible for the site .

The success of Spring Farm Village reflects the strong collaboration across the project team, with consultants and authorities aligned on delivering a high-quality outcome. Ongoing input from the local community and key stakeholders helped shape a well-resolved, architecturally designed neighbourhood centre that responds to the needs of the growing Kingston area.

Era’s planning team visited the centre ahead of the official opening, a valuable time to reflect on the project’s planning journey and celebrate a significant milestone with our client.

Era is proud to have worked alongside Tipalea Partners, Fairbrother and the team on this project, and be part of delivering places that work for people.

Building our bushfire capability at Era Advisory 🔥

Over the past year, Erin Fitzner has been working through the bushfire accreditation process, building new skills to assess and manage bushfire risk for projects across Tasmania.

Erin completed her training last year, gained provisional accreditation in March, and is now working with a Tasmania Fire Service mentor to complete the final reports required for full accreditation. This strengthens Era Advisory’s bushfire capability, alongside Clare, who is fully accredited.

As part of this process, Erin is currently able to prepare:
¡ Bushfire Hazard Management Plans
¡ Bushfire Exemption Reports

A recent example of this work includes an exemption report for upgrades to learning spaces at George Town Primary School, completed alongside architect . The assessment confirmed that the proposed upgrades do not introduce any additional bushfire risk or require further safety measures.

For Erin, the training has been a valuable addition to her role. It’s been a great chance to get out of the office and apply her learning in real, physical environments. It also adds variety to her existing work, including exposure to building and construction requirements outside her usual scope.

“I’m looking forward to developing my role to include bushfire assessments. They’re focused but high‑impact, and each project brings something different. It’s a good mix of site work and practical planning, and it’s rewarding to help enable safe development in bushfire‑prone areas.”

We’re proud to continue building practical, on‑the‑ground expertise that supports safer communities and well‑designed projects.

We’re pleased to see the Chocolate Experience at Cadbury reach an important milestone with the granting of its planning permit. The project is a much‑anticipated visitor experience, celebrating Cadbury’s heritage while creating a contemporary, immersive destination for locals and visitors alike.

Era Advisory has been working with the Cadbury team on this project since 2022, acting as a trusted advisor across all stages of the planning process: from early concept and preliminary advice, through the planning scheme amendment process, and ultimately the planning permit pathway.

Our role has focused on helping the client navigate complexity, manage risk and make informed decisions, while maintaining a clear line of sight between the project’s long‑term vision, the planning system and statutory requirements.

Projects of this scale and profile require patience, collaboration and a clear understanding of both statutory requirements and long‑term site aspirations. It’s been a privilege to work alongside a committed client team and consultant group to help shape a proposal that balances experience‑led design with site constraints and planning outcomes.

We look forward to continuing to support this project as the Chocolate Experience progresses to delivery.

A big thank you to the incredible team contributing to this effort:

Agritourism is a growing and increasingly important part of Tasmania’s visitor economy. To make the most of opportunities, it’s vital for regulatory pathways to support producers and small businesses looking to diversify.

The Tasmanian Agritourism Toolkit is a clear, accessible guide for navigating the practicalities of the process. It’s just one of the outcomes of our involvement in the Tasmanian Agritourism Regulatory Review Project – an assignment that felt like it was made for us.

Sitting in the intersection of policy, approvals and engagement, this project focused on mapping and reviewing the regulatory framework that applies to agritourism, with the aim of making approval processes clearer, more consistent and better aligned with on the ground experience.

Understanding the full picture in a complex environment was key to the project’s success. Our focus on close collaboration with stakeholders from all sides of the process, from producers through to regulators, allowed us to build recommendations and resources shaped by real experiences and that support both economic opportunity and appropriate regulation.

Led by Era’s Managing Director Emma Riley alongside Connie Steers, this project is a clear favourite for its support for regional businesses and long term outcomes.

Thank you to everyone involved, including all stakeholders, our client the Department of State Growth, and project partners Pudding Lane Building Surveyors and Natalie Martin Environmental Health.

We recently supported planning approvals for Procreate’s new Hobart HQ, a project led by Patrick Carroll, Principal Planner at Era Advisory.

Procreate is a Tasmanian success story on the global stage, creating world‑class digital tools used by millions of creatives around the world. It’s been a privilege to support this next chapter by helping deliver new, world‑class facilities for a globally recognised Tasmanian company.

The project is a thoughtful adaptive reuse of a former industrial building in the historic Wapping precinct transforming it into a contemporary, light‑filled workplace while retaining the character and fabric of the original structure. Projects like this show what’s possible when strong design, planning rigour and collaboration come together.

Our role included preparing the planning report, presenting to the City of Hobart’s Urban Design Advisory Panel, and guiding the development application through the statutory process, supporting Procreate and the broader project team from concept through to approval.

A big thank you to our project partners:

Gandy & Roberts Consulting Engineers
Caleb Engineers
Midson Traffic
Praxis Environment

Sun, beaches, and a coastal lifestyle… all within stone’s throw of a capital city? Welcome to one of those special, quintessentially Tassie places.
