The Scrap Shack

The Scrap Shack 10 bed retreat venue for craft groups, e.g. scrapbooking, quilting, yoga etc Contact me via this page to ask about rates and availability.

The Scrap Shack at Inverloch is a spacious 4 bed beach house which is set up as the perfect weekend craft retreat for 10 guests between March and November each year. From December to February and in some school holidays, it is available as an ideal two family holiday house rental with the scrapping room set up as a spacious family room, opening out on the sunny deck. When booked for a craft retrea

t, you will arrive to find the house ready and waiting for your group and you just need to bring in your gear, choose your bed, then your table and sit down to start working on your project. There are 10 individual beds with two twin rooms and two triple rooms. Your comfy bed will be made up ready and waiting for you. The large family room will be set up with a full trestle table for each member of your group, including scrap bins and overhead "daylight" globes as well as table lamps for close work at night time. For those working with fabric rather than paper, there are two irons and ironing boards and the dining table is available as a cutting table when it isn't being used for meals. The family room is a lovely space in which to work as it gets morning sun on one side and then the afternoon sun through clerestory windows so that no one will have the sun in their eyes. There is no need to clear anything away for meal times as there is still room for the dining table seating 10. Standard toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soaps and toothpaste are all provided so that you can travel light and make as much space as possible available for your gear. Details available on booking. At the end of your stay, pack your personal things and simply walk away, I'll do all the clearing away. In fact I would rather you didn't strip the beds or empty the bins, its a retreat where you don't have to think about those things. The house is available for a minimum of 2 nights but booking for 3 or even 4 nights allows you to get so much more done! To enquire or make a booking send a message via this page or an email to [email protected].

After a busy holiday rental summer, The Scrap Shack is now transformed and hosting its first group of guests for the 2024 retreat season. I'm sure the air conditioning was essential on Thursday and hopefully everyone has their projects well underway by now.
If you haven't yet organised your 2024 get-away, there are a few options available from May onwards and forward bookings are taken up to 12 months ahead.
DM me here, or email "[email protected]".

Another newbie which some groups have already enjoyed - a bigger fridge, which means there is still room for those precious bottles, even when it is stocked with meals for 10 for 3 days! And a bonus which we will all enjoy, plumbed in filtered water and ice.

Thank you to all my guests this year who have provided feedback about your stay. I really appreciate it, cos if you donโ€™t tell me, I donโ€™t know!
Some requests have been really easy to implement straight away, such as 2 bath mats in the main bathroom.
Some have taken a little longer but I can now report that after a working bee this weekend - and big thanks to my โ€œkidsโ€- the ceiling lights above the craft tables have finally been converted to much brighter daylight globes, the family room fan is now working again and the oven door is fixed! There are more improvements in the works so watch this space! Iโ€™m looking forward to welcoming you all back in 2023.

Hi everyone and welcome back to The Scrap Shack for season 2022.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we won't have any more lockdowns this year - it is looking good for the moment !
There are still some government Covid regulations in place though, so please could you bear the following requirements in mind :-
Covid vaccinations up to date;
QR check-in;
Masks for indoor communal areas.

I am planning some upgrades and changes to The Scrap Shack this year - so stay tuned, I'll post photos here! Best wishes to everyone for a productive year scrappin'.

Merry Christmas everyone! No matter how you are spending your time over the next few days as 2021 comes to an end, I hope you have a peaceful and happy time. May 2022 bring you health and happiness, with all my best wishes from Anne at The Scrap Shack.

We are back! It is so exciting to finally be able to travel back into regional Victoria and to set up The Scrap Shack for its first group of visitors this weekend!
I will continue to implement Covid safe cleaning practices which include wiping down all surfaces with alcohol wipes. There will also be a break of at least 24 hours between groups staying at the house.
All guests will be required to be vaccinated and to check-in using the Services Vic app (preferred) or by completing the paper form if they do not have a smart phone. For the time being there is a limit on 10 guests, so no visitors beyond your group please. The number of people allowed in each communal area is limited to 4/sqm, providing that all guests are vaccinated, so whilst I already know that 10 can be comfortably accommodated in the family room, I will also measure and advise for all the other rooms. Although there isn't a mandate for guests at private homes to be vaccinated, the rules around accommodation communal area density only provide for vaccinated guests, so to keep all of us safe, accommodation guests will need to be vaccinated please. Finally, the rules still require masks to be worn indoors.
As vaccination rates in the community rise, hopefully some of these rules will be relaxed, I'll let you know how any changes relate to accommodation as they happen.
In the meantime, we can travel, we can stay with our friends and we can get so many pages completed at a weekend retreat!
Enjoy!

Hi everyone, did the earth move for you today? What a bizzare feeling - my whole house "wobbled", I have never felt anything like it before. Hopefully none of you experienced anything worse than perhaps a broken mug or two! ๐Ÿ˜—
Anyway, I have now been able to check the Premier's proposed roadmap out of lockdown and it seems that I will be able to accommodate both regional and metropolitan groups at The Scrap Shack once we reach 80% of the 16+ population fully vaccinated, ๐Ÿ’‰which is expected to be around 5th November.๐Ÿ“† At that stage the advice for both regional and metro Victoria is that accommodation is open under the same restrictions as Private Gatherings - which are set to a limit of 10 people from then on. ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿพ
Obviously we will believe it when we see it, and the date is only an indication at this stage, but I will now start to contact those groups who have reserved dates in November to see what your intentions are. Then I will be in touch with those of you who have already missed out on a retreat this year (and for some last year as well!) and those of you who were hoping to stay in October to see if you would like to take up any vacancies I might have in November or early December.
Is it too soon to hope that this might nearly be over? ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰
Please message me before then if you have any specific questions.
Best wishes, Anne

This has been such a disrupted year. ๐Ÿ˜” Those of you who did manage to enjoy a weekend retreat at The Scrap Shack have been SO lucky! Although regional Victoria, including Inverloch is no longer locked down, accommodation is still limited to single household groups. To be honest, with the current daily numbers, I canโ€™t see that changing in the near future, but I will keep checking the Services Vic information page and Iโ€™ll let you know as soon as I hear. In the meantime, I hope you are all getting pages completed at home? Take care and we will be able to get back together again soon!

We had to postpone a weekend retreat AGAIN this weekend. It is so disappointing and frustrating all round! But, we will reschedule! We will do the things we love, perhaps not exactly as planned, but we will make it happen! Take care everyone and letโ€™s keep building โ€œ normalโ€.
