๐ฅ Bushfire Advice - STAY INFORMED - JURIEN BAY ๐ฅ
โ A Bushfire Advice is in place for people in an area north of Hill River, bound by Munbinea Road to the east and Jurien Road to the north, including Jurien Bay townsite in parts of JURIEN BAY in the SHIRE OF DANDARAGAN.
โ Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
โ There is a lot of smoke in the area.
๐ฒ Park closure for Nambung National Park ๐ฒ
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions has issued a park closure for Nambung National Park due to a bushfire.
Affected sites include the Pinnacles Desert Discovery, Hangover Bay, Kangaroo Point, Wedge, Grey and Wanagarren Campground.
๐ SAFER PLACE ๐
- The Department of Communities has opened an evacuation centre at Jurien Bay Sport & Recreation Centre, 3 Bashford Street, Jurien Bay.
- Please take any essential items such as medications and identification to the evacuation centre.
- Pets (except recognised assistance animals) are not allowed inside evacuation centres for health and safety reasons, so you should make alternative arrangements for them.
- If this is not possible, please still proceed to the evacuation centre with your pets and await further advice.
๐ฅ BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR ๐ฅ
- The bushfire is moving in a westerly direction towards Cervantes, Wedge and Grey.
- It is not contained or controlled.
- Currently there has been 42,807 hectares burnt.
๐ง ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS ๐ง
A number of roads have been closed including:
- Indian Ocean Drive, between Ocean Place and Middleton Boulevard
- Bibby Road
- Wongonderrah Road
- Meadows Road
- Cervantes Road
- Munbinea Road south of the Cervantes Road intersection
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully, especially along Indian Ocean Drive. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138 138 or by contacting your Local Government Authority.
๐ DRONES AND AERIAL SUPPORT ๐
Never fly a drone, model aircraft or multirotor near bushfires. Doing so poses a major safety risk to firefighting personnel in the air and on the ground, and forces aircraft to be grounded or redirected, hindering firefighting efforts.
