🎣 NOW THAT'S A CATCH !!

The best part about this is Jase didn’t even have to walk 100 metres from his campsite to wet a line, and come back with two huge pinkies👌

Not a bad way to spend a few days in Kalbarri.

Nice work, Jase.

Good morning from Red Bluff ☀️and Happy Friday !!

You’ve just woken up with us at Summerstar Red Bluff Tourist Park, Kalbarri, in our beach house, en-suite camping sites or a Premium ocean view Cabin : https://summerstar.com.au/caravan-parks/kalbarri/accommodation

The day already smells like a dream
The wind has dropped.
The sun is already out.
It’s 10.30am and 27.4°.

You've wandered over for a morning coffee with Tayla at our onsite Cowabunga Coffee Van. ☕️

Coffee in hand, you find a spot to stand for a minute and soak in the spectacular panoramic ocean views.

Warmth on your face and appreciating for once there’s absolutely nowhere you need to be.

You take that first sip.

Then someone beside you suddenly says,

“Ah… look. Whales.”

One breaches.

Then another.

You could stay there all day.....

But eventually someone asks:

“So… what are you doing today?”

And that’s when the difficult decision begins.

You’ve got one day in Kalbarri.

You can only choose one:

🌿 Nature’s Window
🌊 Pot Alley
👣 The Skywalk

Where are you going?

And more importantly…

Why?

67 Years of Marriage, 34 Years of Service & Plenty of Good Advice ❤️

One of the absolute joys of running a tourist park is the people who come through our gates.

Some stay for a night, some for a week, some come back year after year and along the way, we all get to hear little pieces of their stories. Every now and then, you meet someone whose stories, humour and character make you smile long after you've heard them.

Mr Pratt is certainly one of those people. ❤️

At 87 years young, Mr Pratt has quite a story behind him.

Born in Yarloop, he spent an incredible 34 years in the Air Force Reserves with the 25th Squadron at Pearce Air Base.

He has also been married for 67 years and this is something he is clearly very proud of, and rightly so.

For 17 years, his annual holiday was the long journey from Perth all the way to Broome. But these days, Broome is just a little too far down the road, so for the past two years we've had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Pratt to Summerstar Kalbarri Red Bluff instead.

And he doesn't just pop in for a few nights either, he stays with us for a whole month!

During his stay, Scotty and Fab make a point of checking in on him every day. Although us ladies in the office are beginning to think the daily check-ins may be a two-way arrangement… because Mr Pratt is more than capable of keeping an eye on the boys! 😂

He certainly isn't afraid to keep them on their toes.

A chat here.
A bit of advice there.
And occasionally, a very clear set of instructions! 😂

One of our favourite photos is Mr Pratt giving Scotty some very important guidance on exactly how the site should be top-dressed.

We're not sure whether Scotty was asking for advice or simply being told how it was going to be done… but we're pretty sure Mr Pratt had it under control! 😂

But amongst all the laughs and banter, Mr Pratt recently shared something with us yesterday on our lunch break, that really stuck. Knowing how proud he is of his 67-year marriage, and as newlyweds ourselves, we asked him:

"What's your best advice for making a marriage last Mr Pratt?"

He didn't hesitate. His answer was simple, honest and, after 67 years, pretty hard to argue with:

"No one is perfect, pointing his finger at us, and everyone has their things that annoy others. Everyone. To sustain you have to learn to compromise and tolerate each other. Discuss things and talk. Don't fly off the handle like the young ones do these days, haha. That only creates more problems. This is all a learning. You have to learn these things."

And there it was.

No grand secret.
No complicated formula.

Just compromise, tolerance, communication and understanding that you're both learning as you go.

We think there might be a fair bit of wisdom in that. ❤️

There is something pretty special about sitting with someone who has lived 87 years, served his country, shared 67 years of marriage, travelled thousands of kilometres for his holidays and still has enough energy to tell the younger generation how to top-dress a site properly! 😂

Mr Pratt, thank you for the stories, the laughs, the advice and for becoming part of the fabric of the Summerstar community.

We genuinely look forward to seeing you arrive next year.

We will ensure Fab + Scotty are standing by, ready for their next set of instructions. ❤️😂

To Celebrate our Recent 30th Birthday 🎂🥳 I wanted to share the story behind Summerstar as it is one most of us will relate too. "A hardworking Australian family looking for something more."

Summerstar Begun with John and Dani Layman, a hard working farming family.

For 18 years, they worked long days, early mornings, and lived a life where everything was tied to the land.

They knew hard work, and they knew risk. Like most of us, they knew what it meant to have everything riding on things you couldn't control.

One year in particular hit hard. Prices were down, costs were up, and like many farmers, they were working harder than ever for less return.

That's when a mate said something that stuck with John:

"Growing food means you're competing with the poorest people in the world."

For John, that one hit home and that was the year John and Dani decided something had to change.

Not long after, an old farming mate bought a caravan park in Geraldton.

Over the next few years, John and Dani visited often, but these weren't just holidays. Every trip became a fact-finding mission as they explored whether this could be a future for their own family.

After multiple trips, endless research, and plenty of courage, they finally took the leap.

On 1st July 1996, they packed up the kids, Kate and Sarah (yes, OUR Sarah!), left Collie, and made the trip to their new home in Esperance.

They took over Esperance Bay Caravan Park ( you may know this now as Esperance Bay Holiday Park).

You could say... that was the moment it all began.

What started as one park in 1996 slowly became something much bigger.

If you've ever carried shampoo, towels or kids across a campground... this one's for you. ☺️

What if we told you that every campsite at Red Bluff Summerstar comes with its own private bathroom?

Imagine this...

The kids are asleep. It's 2am.

Someone needs the toilet.

Instead of grabbing a torch, putting on your shoes and walking half way across a campground in the dark, you simply unlock your own private ensuite, just steps from your van.

A hot shower. A clean toilet seat. Your own sink.

Yours, and yours alone, for your entire stay.

For the Ladies, having personal space to do your hair, your makeup, or enjoy a shower without the audience is what we hear the guests appreciate the most.

🌴No queues.
🌅No midnight walks.
🌴No walking the kids to the amenities three times a night.
🌅Wait for it, No wet amenity floors.
🌴And Mum's The ensuite isn't just for the toilet... it's been known for maintaining sanity. 😂 Permission to lock the door 😉

It's one of those little luxuries that seems to completely change the camping experience + why you guys are choosing to continue to return.

To book your stay in Natures own Sunken lounge, you must be prepared to Wake to the sound of the ocean. Spend your days reading in your hammock, fishing, surfing, swimming, collecting shells, or exploring Kalbarri's spectacular bushwalks, restaurants, and coastline. Then, when you get back to camp, kick back and enjoy the sun melting into the Indian Ocean steps away from your campiste. Oh, and after dinner, dessert is on the house, Milky-way star gazing.🌟🌠

If I had $1 for every time a guest checked out and said...

"This is the best caravan park we've EVER stayed at." I'd either have a piggy bank so full it needed its own postcode, OR, my husband would finally have the custom winter surfboard he absolutely does not need... but, apparently.... "definitely needs". 🏄‍♂️😂

Honestly, this morning, after four more guests walked into reception asking to extend their stay, I found myself getting very curious...

"What is it about this place that keep people extending their stays?"

We've been fortunate enough to work in some really spectacular locations around Australia.

🌅Places with amazing views.
🌴Places with incredible landscapes.
👌🏽Places people dream of visiting.

Im noticing very quickly that Summerstar Red Bluff guests not only love it, they genuinly do, struggle to leave it.

So, I started asking why + the answers were too beautiful not to share with you.

"The park is so calm. We haven't rested like this in years, it's a very special Park, we have already booked for same time next year."

"It's the little things, the cleanliness, the pool with ocean views, your helpful staff, nothing has been too much for them, the finishing touches, the amenities."

"Being so close to the beach, be able to wander down to the beach, we felt close to town but also so canopied by the national park."

"We didn't realise how special it would feel, or that their was so much to experience"

And maybe that's the thing.

Red Bluff isn't just a place you stay while you explore Kalbarri.

It's the place where you finally slow down enough to notice it.

The coffee with Whales tastes better when you're not rushing.

The sunset you almost skipped becomes the one you guys remember forever.

One woman even said "The only place to stay in Kalbarri in our opinion!"

We're not saying Red Bluff has magical powers...

But we're also not ruling it out. 😉

We've still got some August availability if you're overdue for 'one of those weekends." : https://summerstar.com.au/caravan-parks/kalbarri

One of the most common questions we're asked all the time is, "What's the accommodation like at Red Bluff?"

The answer....? Well, It really depends on the kind of holiday you're after and it how much comfort you like with the ocean views. 😉

Some people love nothing more than a tent and a sky full of stars. Other times guests prefer a few more creature comforts (and maybe a proper bed after a big day exploring). And then there's the times that hubby's want to sweep their wives off their feet, ( wink nudge husbands😉) and are looking for that special place where they can experience more romance while sitting back, glass in hand, and wonder why you don't live here permanently.

🏖️ Let me talk you through your accommodation options

⛺ Powered Ensuited Camping Sites

Camping should be about enjoying nature, not lining up for shared amenities. That's why every powered campsite at Red Bluff comes with its own private ensuite. Feedback is, It's a game changer for families with little ones and anyone who appreciates the convenience of having their own bathroom while still enjoying the magic of camping under some of Western Australia's clearest night skies.

Our cabins were designed to feel like a home away from home.

With two bedrooms, a full kitchen, a spacious lounge and dining area, and a separate bathroom, there's room for the whole family to spread out after a day exploring Kalbarri.

The best part? Waking up to the sound of the ocean and enjoying your morning coffee with those incredible whale tail slapping ocean views of one of Western Australia's most spectacular coastlines right outside your door.

🌊 Wittecarra Beach House

If you have ever stayed at Wittecarra Becah house it will be apparent Not all beach houses are created equal.

At Wittecarra Beach House, you're not just staying near the coast you'll wake up to uninterrupted 180° panoramic views stretching across Red Bluff, Jakes Point, and the endless Indian Ocean.

Unlike majority of coastal accommodations, this isn't a unit, a holiday complex, or an air bnb beach house squeezed in amongst neighbours. Wittecarra Beach House stands on its own, surrounded by Kalbarri's iconic red rock landscape, with a front lawn that flows towards the ocean and a private side yard beside you. It's a rare opportunity to experience the WA coastline in privacy, all year round.
