Our beautiful bridge is 125 years old today. So many memorable moments for us have been spent in KV and they always include a walk across this Aussie icon. Floods, repairs and bushfires, and more than her fair share of allowing our community to commute, visit, wed and reside - she’s truly in a league of her own 🖤

“🎂 Hampden Bridge at Kangaroo Valley in the Shoalhaven turns 125 years old today!

Carrying Moss Vale Road across the Kangaroo River in Dharawal/Thurawal country, it was the second-ever suspension bridge built in NSW.

It features four ornate Gothic-style turrets, and upon completion the Minister for Works at the time said, “one might go over the great Australian continent and would find nothing equal.”

We agree, it’s like something out of a medieval King Arthur story ⚔️ 🏰 and what a fantastic place to stop, admire the handsome architecture, and take some photos!” - Live Traffic NSW
