Karalundi College is seeking applications for a Farm Manager. This position is full time and is responsible for delivering farm resources and demonstrating skills to students enrolled in the Agricultural Program. It is not a commercial farming operation.

The farm incorporates intensive market gardening, citrus orchards, chickens and small scale livestock husbandry(in progress).

Karalundi has two full time positions available to start on Monday 20th July 2026. Applications close Friday 3rd July.

Boarding Parent Male - This position involves active supervision of the male boarding students, helping them to make better decisions, engage in personal growth and become adults that can lead. The position answers to the Boarding Manager, and is outside of school hours and includes rostered overnight stays. Training will be provided for willing and suitable staff.

Maintenance Officer - This position involves maintaining the campus equipment, buildings and other facilities. Knowledge of safe working operations and workplace health and safety is required. There will be tasks that require operating machinery, so some prior experience and training would be desirable. Some vehicle repair knowledge would also be favourable.

Both positions require you to live on site in furnished accommodation. Applicants will need to hold or be able to hold a Working with Children card, and currently have the right to work in Australia.

⚠️ You need to act now and stay safe with severe weather forecast including damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy rainfall.

❗ WHAT TO DO ❗

- Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, trampolines and other loose items around your home that could be picked up and thrown by strong winds.
- Prepare an emergency kit with a radio that runs off batteries, a torch, spare batteries and a first aid kit.
- Review your plan and make sure everyone in your household knows what to do. If you do not have a plan, make one now on Emergency WA emergency.wa.gov.au/plan or in the Emergency WA app.
- Trim branches around your home to prevent them falling on your roof or car.
- Clear gutters and downpipes so they do not overflow after heavy rain.
- Boat owners should securely moor their boats.
You may become isolated so you need to:
- Have enough canned food and water to last five to seven days, as well as any medications or baby supplies that you may need.
- Keep important documents such as identification and insurance papers safe.
- Fill your vehicle’s fuel tank.

🌧️ STORM DETAILS 🌧️

At 9:08am on Friday, 27 March 2026 the Bureau of Meteorology advised damaging to locally destructive wind gusts and heavy rainfall possible for parts of South West Land Division on Saturday.
Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle is currently located near Coral Bay and will maintain a southerly track near the Gascoyne coast during Friday.

The system is forecast to transition to a vigorous subtropical low on Saturday morning as it moves more rapidly to the southeast, with the risk of damaging winds and heavy rainfall continuing through Saturday as the system passes through southwestern districts before moving off the south coast on Saturday evening.

Destructive winds averaging 80 to 90km/h with destructive gusts in excess of 125km/h are possible near the system in the northern part of the warning area during Saturday morning and may cause significant damage to homes and property.

Damaging winds averaging 65 to 75km/h with peak gusts of around 100km/h are likely over other northern parts of the warning area on Saturday morning, with damaging wind gusts to 100km/h likely to shift southwards over the remainder of the warning area during Saturday afternoon and evening.

Heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding is forecast for parts of the Gascoyne, central west, lower west and central Wheat belt districts during Saturday morning and afternoon.

Six-hour rainfall totals between 30 and 50mm are likely, with isolated totals of around 70mm possible mainly in the north of the warning area.

Conditions are likely to ease below warning thresholds by early Sunday morning as the system moves offshore.

A Tropical Cyclone Advice remains in place for Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle.

A flood watch is also current for the area.

Locations which may be affected include Dalwallinu, Toodyay, Esperance, Kalgoorlie, Katanning, Merredin, Moora, Mount Magnet, Narrogin, Norseman and Northam.

Tropical Cyclone Narelle is now a category 2 tropical cyclone and is expected to intensify to a category 3 tonight.

Narelle is moving west south-west, roughly parallel to the Pilbara coast.

The system is larger than usual and although the cyclone is located well north of the Pilbara, gales are likely to extend to the coast this afternoon and evening.
